Am looking for western cuisine restaurant in Ipoh to celebrate my girl's birthday. Is thr any nice one out there?
All I. replied:
Hi Elaine, you can try the new Eastern's Brasserie in town, Secret Garden on Lorong Cheah Cheang Lim off Jalan Tambun, Cocooon Cafe in Greentown Business Centre, David's Diner in Greentown as well, or Citrus Wine & Dine in Ipoh Garden East. The other selections include Hot Jack Cafe in Pasir Puteh, Capucino Cafe opposite of Ave Maria school, Michelangelo's Pizzeria near Tesco in Ipoh Garden East, and Indulgence on Jalan Tambun. Look for the Western Food section@http://www.j2 kfm.com/ultimate-ipoh-food-list/

Hello there! Could you recommend a posh restaurant that serves delicious food which only cost around RM40 per guest for dinner? Plan to have a farewell party of 8 person...
All I. replied:
You can check out beacon point which is nice and affordable. Find out more here http://www.j2 kfm.com/ultimate-ipoh-food-list/
Joanne L. replied:
Thanks a lot for your generous feedback ;D Agree with you:) How about Cocooon? I know the ambiance is good. According to a friend some food was not that fresh.. What say u? Chinese Restaurant is a not our choice for this occasion. My guests are some 12 year old girls who prefer western food ;p Some of them had even been to Indulgence & Brewster. Phew!
Any recommendation on Japanese Restaurant in Ipoh that really serve Japanese rice instead of normal plain white rice?
All I. replied:
Brian - u could always try KIZUNA or AKAMOMIJI see this link http://www.j2 kfm.com/kizuna-japanese-restaurant-ipoh/
All I. replied:
Authentic Japanese Rice is hard to come by as most calrose rice sold in the market are grown from America and are somewhat different in quality from those grown in Japan. From what i understand Those grown in Japan are still superior in quality. And naturally the price is a factor most restaurant has to consider.
Hi Siew Ling. Sorry this reply comes a little late. I am sure many of us are in the holiday mood. Anyway, what type of cafe do you specifically seek? Do refer to the link below for some ideas : http://www.j2 kfm.com/ultimate-ipoh-food-list/6/
Ideas anyone, for a GOOD vegetarian restaurant in Ipoh?
Yvone C. replied:
Fook Tin@Ipoh Garden, nxt to Tesco
Liew S. replied:
Shan Xin in Ipoh Jaya(next to Digi shop), try the "Chicken Chop" & "Fish Head Mee Hoon" & many more. The price is cheap yet delicious.
All I. replied:
On Jalan Bercham there's another Chow Yang which is okay, and on Jalan Kuala Kangsar there's another opposite of Gunung Lang.
All I. replied:
Thanks guys. Ended up at Yishen behind Jusco/Tesco in Ipoh Garden East. Safe choice, for we have been here for many times already. Rather pricey though, small portions but creative nonetheless. Another favourite of ours is Fu Tien, a few shops away from Michelangelo's Pizzeria. They have vegetarian sushi, and offer value for money bento sets. Yes, BENTO, like those Japanese lunches. Chuk Lum on Jalan Kampar next to Fairmont Hotel is an old brand, been there for ages. Just like Sin Meng Kee in town, with a branch in Ipoh Garden. Tao Yuan at the First Curve (or whatever you call the new shops) is relatively new, and I don't see the crowd. Maybe most have already jumped to Good Times Steamboat.:) Shi Fang Zai is next to the Sri Falim Roast Duck stall - http://www.j2kfm.com/crispy-skin-roasted-duck-sri-taman-mas-restaurant-falim-ipoh/ Min Sin Yie - http://www.j2kfm.com/healthy-vegetarian-fare-matchmaking/ is another good choice, near to Citrus Wine and Dine, with delicious mushroom dishes (butter fried mushrooms especially!)

Which is YOUR favourite Japanese restaurant in Ipoh?
All I. replied:
Notice that most people like Kizuna huh? Still nice? Kizuna's team was from Moritomo in Jusco last time, at the Cafe Takahashi lot. Then they came out, and formed Kizuna. Then a guy opened Akamomiji. Kizuna One is seemingly opened by ANOTHER guy from the Moritomo team. A Lai I's boss also used to work in Moritomo. Anyone can verify this story? -MM-
All I. replied:
9) Teppanyaki 10) Sushi King (?) 11) Ramen shop at Medan Ipoh Baru
Anyone been to Cocoon Cafe in Greentown? Feedback please? Thanks.
All I. replied:
KS Boat & Grill Cafe is a bungalow along the road leading to Ipoh Parade, near to MP Restaurant, and a few blocks away from Laksamana Cheng Ho. They serve a mix of western and asian cuisine, as well as buffet steamboat. Much like Movenpeak/MP's.
All I. replied:
Thanks people. Ironically Cocoon is closed today. On a Saturday night?! Hmm. Funny.
All I. replied:
I was at Kon Shong, aka KS Boat & Grill Cafe. They offer set dinner for RM17.80 nett. Inclusive of a prawn cocktail, a cream of mushroom soup with garlic toast, a main (chicken, fish, lamb) coffee/tea, and papaya/ice-cream. Reasonable enough, and taste quite good.

Anyone heard of Dubliners Cafe? Reasonably priced western + thai cuisine at Greentown. Same row as Maxis.
All I. replied:
The lamb stew was not bad, with ample amount of carrots and potatoes with chunks of tender lamb. At RM10.50. And this may be the only worthy HALAL cafe in Ipoh, correct me if I'm wrong. Most other halal outlets serve mediocre Western fares.
