To all my friends with small children, who do you recommend for a pediatrician around the Irmo area.
Kim C. replied:
Sandhills Pediatrics (Dutch Fork office) we use Dr. Whitaker and love him. Dr. Todd is great too!
Julie D. replied:
We asked the same thing, and got several responses. We ended up doing to Dr. Whitaker at Sandhills Pediatrics on Broad River (across from Dutch Fork Elem). Several people in our Sunday school class use him
Rachel M. replied:
I use palmetto pediatrics. Dr. Kapp and he has always been great with brae
Bobbi K. replied:
Ballentine pediatrics is awesome! We drive from Lexington to Irmo for Dr Geurkynk
Joe C. replied:
Whitaker at Sandhills Great Christian man
Jennifer M. replied:
We take both of our children to Dr. Miller at Palmetto Pediatrics (on the Irmo side of Broad River directly next to Fatz Cafe). She is wonderful and always makes time to squeeze us in for same-day sick visits!
MichelleMayhem S. replied:
Sandhill Pediatrics...we had Dr. Cope but all of the doctors there are amazing. We even 'interviewed
MichelleMayhem S. replied:
Darn! As I was saying, we even interviewed Dr. Cope while I was pregnant with Regan. Great team!
Celestine D. replied:
Dr. Whitaker at Sandhills Pediatrics
Robin P. replied:
Leslie sees Dr O"leary. I knew Dr Todd when we were both little, I was around 9. We lived across the street from the Todd's when they lived in Rockbridge
Joshua B. replied:
Sandhills Pediatrics.
Amy H. replied:
After working with different Peds offices, I would absolutely recommend Dr Geurkynk at Ballentine Peds, or even better is Dr Shealy and Dr Bonnett at Chapin Peds...
very disappointed that Palmetto Pediatric & Adolescent Clinic was unwilling to reach an agreement with Palmetto Health insurance. Now we have to find a new pediatrician...
Fiona L. replied:
We love Ballentine Pediatrics with Dr. Guerkink and Dr. Pollack (both women though so if you want a male for Logan they might not be it). Dr G left palmetto peds years ago to start her own business.
Mary W. replied:
Thanks, I called Sandhills, and they have also dropped out of network for palmetto health. The only one in our are that MIGHT stay in network is Ballentine Pediatrics. They won't make their final decision till February 1. I just really "love" Obmacare. WE work hard to provide health issuance for our kids, yet we are the ones getting screwed.
Leslie T. replied:
We see Dr. Guerkink as well and love her! She is in Ballentine.
Mary W. replied:
Digi Tal EXACTLY!!!!
Shannon L. replied:
We go to Sandhills Peds. This is same practice i went to as a child. If they are on the list I can highly recommend Dr. Willard.
Digi T. replied:
"The List" is infuriating, senseless and of absolutely no consequence.
I think I need a new pediatrician. I'm looking for someone who has a hippy side and is not so prescription happy. Suggestions?
Kylie P. replied:
Dr Whitaker !!
Cora W. replied:
Dr. Whitaker will take babies I think.
Theresa B. replied:
Dr. Whitaker ... it's really not pee!
Kelly B. replied:
We've had good experiences with Dr. Pollock at Ballentine Pediatrics. I really like her and she's been good with the kids.
Leslie C. replied:
Monica Manning Griffen, I feel the same way about the pharmaceutical stuff, but I do know reps are no longer allowed to give any perks at all to doctors for prescribing their drug, so I hope that helps! I am still always skeptical, though. We love Dr. Whitaker:)
Chris N. replied:
We drive to Lexington to see Dr. Guyton at Lake Murray Pediatrics. I love that he trusts me as a parent and lets me do my thing (regardless of how hippy and crazy it is). I also like that at times when I have asked if we need meds he has been straight up with me and told me when it won't do any good and when we need to go that route...or when we can get a script and wait a few days to see if we need to fill it or not.
Jana K. replied:
I loved Dr. Todd at Sandhills. He was great at listening to me no matter what my concern and would give advice but let me be in control of my kids healthcare without pressuring me into something else. He was always really understanding and helpful. I don't know that he's quite hippy but I do know he's very open minded. He has been my favorite pediatrician by a lot so far and we've been through a lot of them.
