Contact our main office at 803-750-6988. They will be able to help you!!
Susan L. replied:
The schools do an "educational classification", not a diagnosis. Sometimes it is a fight to get that educational classification, even with a medical diagnosis. Please call the main SCAS office at 803-750-6988 and ask to be connected with a Parent School Partner. This is a free program through the Autism Society that helps with the education process. They will be able to advise you on what to do at this point in terms of school. Good luck!
Loretta R. replied:
Jane Ford no misunderstanding in Sc the school district doesn't have to recognize the clinical diagnosis to determine an educational diagnosis. However, they have to perform a full evaluation not a 20 minute sit in

Kayla Diane Vaughn McCollum rolls your sleeves up. I've been doing everything for my daughter since she was born. Now with an autism diagnosis for the last 6 months I am still her only advocate
Amy C. replied:
Contact The South Carolina Autism Society, they will help you find an advocate that works with the schools (not for the school). They make sure you get the help from schools that your child needs. They will go to the school with you. Check out their website at www.scautism.org. They were lifesaver for my son and he is high functioning also. Their number is 803-750-6988.

Joseph Delaney. Went to school with him. Can't remember the practice name but he is on Old Cherokee Road. Might be Palmetto Peds. Also Emilie Bartlett but she is in the Northeast.
We’re moving to the Lexington area soon. Need recommendations for ABA, speech, family dr, and developmental pediatrician. Thanks!
Morgan A. replied:
Developmental peds through GHS on Patewood. Agapi Behavioral for ABA. Advanced institute of development & learning for speech.
Kim H. replied:
My son attends Team Therapy for speech and OT. The Autism Academy can help with ABA. We saw Dr Johnson at the MUSC Developmental Pediatrics, but he's retired. I don't know anyone there now. Dr Greenhouse and Palmetto Pediatrics is a great source to help you. They have a coordinator there to help.

NNNNOOO! That really isn't good, Dr Dodds is the only dr my son has ever seen.
Marquita M. replied:
Same here just Dr Mac. Dr Dodd's has accepted a position in Charlotte and so they are closing the whole practice. I am really upset. It will be very hard to find a practice with doctors that cared like they do.
Mariann H. replied:
Dr Mac is closing office
Marquita M. replied:
No mom. Dr Dodd's leaving practice so they are closing the practice down.
