I would also recommend laying Radiant Barrier on the floor of your attic----- Saved us about 40% on our heating/cooling bill!!!! We use Air-Pro 972-790-1691... they installed both or our units(house was built in the 70's).....

By "swamp cooler" do you mean water chiller systems. I think the one time I had one of those installed I used Dallas Mechanical?

Kara Grounds Sloan - swamp coolers are outside evaporative coolers used in desert environments. Uses way less electricity than ac. They have wet pads that outside air is drawn through. Outside humidity has to be stupid low or they don't work.

If it's the compressor it's a few bucks to buy the part. Call Edward Ward at 972-836-4000 Tell him that I told you.He's not an A/C guy. But, his friend always calls him first. Both times it was just the compressor for a few bucks. Ed is allegeric to most animals. Please inform him if you have any pets, and he'll go from there. Thanks.
