Can you make a recommendation where to get my cat neutered? Hopefully someplace low cost?? Thanks.
PAWS S. replied:
The lowest cost spays/neuters we have found are West Martin Vet Clinic in Sherburn (507-764-5331) and Chain of Lakes Pet Hospital in Fairmont (507-235-7387). As far as recommendation for service, we use West Martin Vet A LOT; Dr. Madison is a wonderfully caring vet. We also do use Dr. Carr at River Valley Vet in Jackson for emergencies (507-847-4228).
I am new to the Jackson area, and was wondering who is a good vet? Also where is a good place to board your dog? (for a reasonable price!) Thanks so much!
Brittany F. replied:
We love Oakdale animal hospital on 471 in the reservoir area. Dr. Z is great.
Kim F. replied:
We board BJ at petsmart and that works great. We use dr. Greg Austin in ridgeland off old canton rd for her vet and he is wonderful.

I have an awesome dog sitter, Sunshine Clinton. Here's her website http://bubbysbuddies.com
Natalie M. replied:
I highly recommend North State Animal Hospital both as vet and for boarding.
Jody J. replied:
Dr. Melissa Cefalu at Canton Road Veterinary Hospital.
Lauren K. replied:
We either board at Animal Health Center in Madison or we use a girl named Brittany on dogvacay.com. She's awesome!
Maci M. replied:
I have one dog with petsmart (Banfield) and the rest have all used North State Animal hospital. While petsmart can be more convenient cause of their wellness plan and banfield app, North State has a much more courteous staff and it is also more reasonably priced. Overall North State is just a way more enjoyable experience than petsmart
Suzanne R. replied:
Dr. Kristen Berry at the Rankin Animal Clinic is a top-notch veterinarian. Their boarding rates are very reasonable, and their groomer (Michelle) is superb. Highly recommend!
Arica P. replied:
I use Dr. Whittington at North State
Cayleigh B. replied:
Monroe Street Animal Clinic is a good place to take your dog for the vet and a reasonable boarding price also.
Hey guys! I'm getting a turquoise gcc next summer, and I'm very excited! Does anyone have cage or toy recommendations? I'm currently looking for a good vet in my area....
Kelly F. replied:
The biggest cage you can fit/afford is the way to go. I have a bird room, but Ani's cage is like this one. It's plenty of space for a little GC. Also, if you do a search on Pinterest for Conure Toys, or even just Conure, a ton of DIY toy ideas will come up. You could start on those now and stock up in preparation for your baby. http://www.amazon.com/Parakeet-Cockatiel-Lovebird-Removable-Black/dp/B00C332AOG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1432584380&sr=8-5&keywords=flight+cage

Dr Katie is kristis vet. She's more reasonable than any vet we use.
Kay G. replied:
Keepsaynitkayla Rogers - we USED to use Dr Katie - have you ever been to her clinic??????
Kay G. replied:
Dr Katie Meadows in Kentwood - I have been there many times!!!!!
Kay G. replied:
Racheal talked to Barbie Yeager who also rescues with us and that is who told her this Amanda girl was associated with Dr. Katie Meadows.
Kay G. replied:
Only issue that since it's a weekend - ER vet is going to be ridiculous - UNLESS Racheal Sance can get Dr Allen in Chalmette to help out!!!!!!
Any friend who is knowledgeable about issues involving the care of an orphaned kitten, please respond ASAP. The vet is closed and I am worried.
M W. replied:
The first thing that came into my mind, Larry Underwood was to make sure the kitten is warm and wrapped in a towel or something. There's a product called Cats milk...at this time of the day you may not be able to get it from Petsmart or Animal health but probably will have it at a grocery, like Kroger. An eye dropper will work best if you have one but if you don't...then anything..even if it's dipping a bathcloth into the milk will help. It will need to be fed pronto and often...

We got a letter in the mail telling us the new Vet I got an appt for Dragon is closing his clinic. Any recommendations for around the Old Canton Rd/Ridgeland area?
Ann D. replied:
Yes - Ridgetown Animal Clinic on 51 before Rite Aid. I love it!!!!!
Gail E. replied:
You know who to ask.... Moe!! She is BFF with EVERY vet clinic within a 50 mile radius!! I use All Creatures and love them, but also hear GREAT things about Ann's vet and they are not as large, so that can be a plus.

Willow had the GDV surgery at 10.5 and had a difficult recovery. We almost lost her the next day--the gas was still in her stomach and she had to have meds.
JoAnna B. replied:
I always keep Cerenia on hand for vomiting up food. Vet said it can also help if you give it at the first sign of bloat. There are other drugs like Reglan you can give to assist with motility--especially for older dogs or those who have bloated in the past. Again, what I am hearing is that any dog that bloats should probably not be fed dry kibble afterwards. I have decided to do Honest Kitchen for my 12.5 yr old who has IBD and bloated/GDV surgery 2 years ago.
