Sears used be very good for repairs. Especially for Kenmore. The last time I had to deal with them a year ago for my rental. I had washer and dryer both Kenmore about 9 years old. Both of them stopped working. I called Sears and the repair truck showed up was no longer had Sears name on it. I forgot. It was American Appliance or something. I told the guy I called Sears. He said they are now handling Sears repairs...I looked them up later and they were from South (Toms River or Asbury Park). The internet was full of complaints about them. The guy was not eager to repair. He was telling me buying new ones will be cheaper. Top of it, he was asking me service charge for both separately like $80 or more each. I told him "you are here for both repairs". He said those were separate. This was the second strike. Finally, since he was asking the service charge any way, he quote me close to $350 for washer and $300 for the dryer. When I looked up quickly, new washer was $450.on sale and the dryer a hundred dollar more. I send him away. He was very happy with $160 or $175 for doing absolutely nothing. Sears reimbursed me for the service charges when I bought new ones from them again. I cannot do that for the fridge. I paid for the one I have $1800 about 10 years ago. The similar ones are now $2500. I hate these electronic controls. That is what fails rather than the compressor or electric.motors such as fan. The fridge is.perfectly fine but temp control jumps 47F or drops down 33 F rather than keeping steady 37 F as it was set. Freezer is OK. The quick check in the.internet revealed the problem as bad mother board. I do not want to go through that bad experience with these dishonest people who wants to live with service charges because Sears is no longer have their own salaried repair men out. These jerks that outsourced the repair work are trying to make a living with the service charges. This is what is going on lately to my surprise.

Rich Racine I use Worry Free for central heating/AC/water heater. They charge about $5 or so per laundry and kitchen appliances in a package deal montly. For refrigrator, you and me suppose to pay $600 if you need a repair in 10 years like my case. Again, the contracts fine prints may not cover everything. Yes, they are more reliable people but consumers are still between a rock and a hard place. I was thinking fridge is a more hardy appliance in the past. Like I said, with electronic controls really changed that. I never get auto icemakers installed because they are one of the main cause failures and leaks. If I need more ice because I have a company, I pay a buck and half to supermarket get a pack of ice.

Looking for a reliable roof and exterior trim contractor in the Jackson area. Any thoughts?
Daniel S. replied:
I used Sebastian Builders for my roof...they were reasonably priced, mid line of the 6 quotes I got. Very professional, on time, clean, and knowledgeable. I actually wanted to add a roof ridge vent and they talked me out of it and explained why my house would benefit more from a fan, saving me about $150, something that the other companies didn't mention. They are also GAF certified builders, which means I got an entire packet from GAF a few weeks later with all my registered warranty info in it.
DOES ANYONE KNOW A GOOD CONTRACTOR THAT IS AVAILABLE, IN THE NEAR FUTURE, TO DO BATHROOM RENOVATION AND SOME OTHER LIGHT CARPENTRY WORK???? IF SO, PLEASE GET BACK TO ME...
