What are some really good preschools? I’m wanting to get my son enrolled into school.
Melissa W. replied:
https://www.facebook.com/1009852719090297 First Steps Preschool & Enrichment is a great part time option, the Catholic grade schools have good ones, and Southwest is the one through the public schools (it is free but your child must qualify), and it’s great if your child qualifies.

Small Fry Preschool is the absolute best if you're looking for a half day program! I was a kindergarten teacher and now a stay at home mom! I could not be happier with our preschool! I toured several in Jefferson City and this was the perfect fit for us!

I have been a Small Fry Preschool parent for a total of 3 years and soon to be 4. Mrs. Janet Clark is phenomenal with the children and I love the fact that parents are able to participate with the school and learning experiences Mrs. Clark offers. Although it's not full time it is a great school for those that want to get their little ones socialized and ahead of the game once Kindergarten starts and the price of tuition you can't beat. My girls both loved it there and I couldn't see myself going anywhere else with them.
Amy W. replied:
Small Fry Preschool was a great experience for my kids!! I loved that parents get to be involved and see how your child interacts with the other kids. My kids teacher, Mrs. Clark is still there! She is amazing with the kids!! My kids have such wonderful memories from Small Fry!!

First United Methodists Church has excellent programs for mother’s morning out, preschool, and preK. It follows the public school calendar (for the most part) and goes from 9-12 with extended hours available. Call (573) 635-6886 and ask to speak to Heather.

Does anyone on this page know of anyone who works privately with kids on Speech and OT stuff? Or ABA? I figure if no one will qualify my daughter I'll just attempt...
Kim S. replied:
Our office has referred to the speech therapist at this place in Columbia http://www.therapyu.org/#
Jen H. replied:
Four Leaf Clover Preschool (formerly Dandelion) has a speech therapist on staff who works privately with families outside of school hours. (573-632-6400) I have no idea about the autism factor though.
Robin W. replied:
Speech and Language Preschool in Columbia may be able to help. They're fairly new. You might be able to private pay for therapy at special learning center. You can always contact your old First Steps coordinator to see if she has any more resources. I'm the SC for Callaway County so I'm not sure exactly what's available in Jeff City. Easter Seals in Columbia does ABA and would be able to help with funding info.

I work at a place to grow in holts summit and we have a non verbal high functioning autistic boy in our care and we love him!! No child should be turned away due to-not a disability-but a different learning mechanism. I'd give Nicci Trapp a call. She owns the center and I'm sure wouldn't mind working with you guys at all!
