Shimrit Cohen Doula was my doula and was really wonderful. she was a student doula at the time (1.5 years ago) and gave me the student rate (several hundred shekel). you can ask her about her regular rates now. if your wife is interested she can join the group Brand New Mamas (it's a secret group so she may need to have a member add her). it has a lot of great info for Israel-based expecting moms. besha'a tova!

Second the recommendation for Michal Melamed! When I shopped around, price range is around 1700 - 3000 shekels (though 3000 was for a very popular hypnobirthing doula / instructor in Tel Aviv, the going rate in more religious areas seems to be closer to 1800). Maccabi Sheli will cover up to 2000 shekels of extra birth expenses, including the price of a doula, though you have to have been a member for long enough (we signed up JUST too late in pregnancy which is definitely not a way to live finanically smarter)

Bsha tova! I recommend Aviva Sutnick Yisraeli. I cannot even explain how helpful Aviva Sutnick Yisraeli has been for me. I have two kids.. And with my first son I struggled with breast feeding and Aviva Sutnick Yisraeli was by side cheering and guiding me through the process. I felt so ashamed that I didn't know how to breast feed. And with second my child I had Aviva Sutnick Yisraeli as my doula. From the beginning I felt comfortable calling her whenever and asking any question under the sun. For my birth I did not know but my daughter's umbilical cord was tied around her ankle. So she did not descend. Aviva Sutnick Yisraeli again guided me through different poses from spinning babies ( look it up) and she became untangled. It might so weird but my birth was fun. Somehow she made a possible traumatic experience to a humorous one.I feel very blessed that I had Aviva Sutnick Yisraeli for my birth, and I look forward to my future births with her. I strongly recommend her.

Rachelle Oseran is the lamaze queen. We got a ton out of her course. she is also a doula. We had Tali Mansdorf as a doula and i do not have enough words to describe how much of a godsend she was. HIGHLY recommend.

The National Childbirth Trust teaches courses similar to Lamaze only not exactly the same. I was trained with the NCT in the UK and now teach couples privately here in J'lem. Am happy to teach more than one couple if they can coordinate with friends. Otherwise, privately one to one.
