I switched years ago to someone who annually checks the competition and gets the same coverage at the lowest price. And I am not talking about a few shekels. Different companies can sometimes be cheaper for different makes and types of cars. Worthwhile checking with a few agents, that way you will not only get a good idea, but most likely cover quotes from most insurance companies. Actually the Ministry of Finance published a comprehensive index of claims handling and resolution for auto insurers last year. http://mof.gov.il/.../Index-Service-to-handle-claims.aspx

There are loads of issues here. To name a few: - They do not question every single person who has a claim to see if it was handled well from the opinion of every client. - There is one insurance company that appears realtively high up the list (how I do not know), that is renowned for declining (almost as standard) claims up to a certain amount, knowing certain people will not bother taking it further to a small claims court and give up on the claim. Our agency has had clients involved in accidents against people insured with the specific un-named insurance company, and it is current 7-0 in our favour in court appearances with them. - Certain claims are declined for legitimate reasons. This is not factored in. - Complex accidents - not to mention those involving multiple cars - can often take longer to settle. - Claims involving personal imports also take far longer (see the article attached on imported cars and the section about claims taking months) and so on... In essence the figures are rather shallow, and look at specific data such as response time and closing of a file and pay out, as opposed to other deeper factors that will get a wider perspective here. Why aren't there questions about (for example): Did the company deduct an extra deductible for depreciation that they paid out, as a result of an accident. Not all policies or companies have an additional deductible here, meaning the client may be unaware that they could have received greater financial compensation.
