I'm looking for an adoption attorney in Maryland. Anyone have a referral?
Rebecca J. replied:
Abby Johnson: ProWoman, ProChild, ProLife - I would recommend contacting Tepeyac Family Center in Fairfax Virginia and asking for a referral for an adoption attorney. They are strictly pro life and most of their practitioners are Catholic. They do a lo t of pro-bono work and they know everyone in the tri state Maryland, DC, Virginia area. They'd be able to give you a list of good adoption attorneys who will be understanding depending on what the situation is.

My friend fr. Chris Christopher Michael Walsh said to contact Bethany Christian services: http://m.bethany.org. He says they are the best, hope that helps

John Greene out of Annapolis practically wrote the adoption laws in Md. We used him and were very happy.

I would recommend you find a AAAA (American Academy of Adoption Attorneys) attorney in your area. As long as things go smoothly, most any family law attorney can help but if you hit any snags, you're really going to want an expert!
Theresa H. replied:
You can always find an experienced, ethical adoption attorney anywhere in the US at www.adoptionattorneys.org and click on Find an Attorney. Then you can search by state. Mark McDermott in DC is also licensed in Maryland. He is one of the best in the country.
I need information on getting a power of attorney document. Does anyone know a lawyer who doesn't charge an arm and a leg?
Laura B. replied:
You can print one off the internet. Legalzoom.com I think. If not, just Google one. Take it to a notary and have it notarized, and it's all legal. Or, you can actually write one out yourself. It's legal, as long as it's notarized.
Joyce S. replied:
Janie Montgomery Flick.. Do you know anything about the power of attorney and if you can do it at the bank or if you have to go to a lawyer for that
Jamie P. replied:
If it's for medical attention you can get them at any medical facility like Methodist Medical Center.
Diane L. replied:
Attorney Wilkerson handled both legal and medical POAs for my parents and was helpful, but we had a complicated situation. If you just need a routine POA, I'd print one, get it notarized, and file at the courthouse just to be safe. And as others have said, you can get medical ones at the hospital or probably at your doctor's office. Make sure your nearest hospital, all family members and your doctors have certified copies of any medical powers of attorney.
Tina L. replied:
if you're looking for a form you can get the form on the state website... http://www.state.tn.us/aging/publication.html
