I'm looking for a dog groomer north of the river. My dog needs a bath and a trim! Anyone?
Celia J. replied:
We have gone to American Pet for 35 or so years, through 4 dogs (poodles and malteses so needed regular grooming) they were super, very patient with ours when they had some serious issues... do a great job. 436-8513. Daughter runs the business now.

Groomer recommendations? Does anyone have any groomer recommendations in KC Midtown / OP area? My dog is a 1 year old Samoyed and since she has never been to a groomer...
THEsolid85 replied:
Define "not staying calm." You don't get turned away for that. Was it a full-blown freakout? Just to rein in expectations, the groomer is not going to be able to fix your dog's behavior on the spot. It's something you need to work on at home with a hair dryer or vacuum or whatever you have to simulate the noise. We go to Picasso Dog Groomery at 45 th and State Line. Check out his reviews on Google and Yelp. He may seem abrasive on the phone when you make the appointment but he's great with dogs and if your dog is tough to work with then he'll explain why and what you should do.

Looking for a new dog groomer... preferably close to home (Raytown area) & affordable. Recommendations anyone?
Shane D. replied:
My wife owns Sitin' Pretty dog grooming 461-7903. Independence but reasonably priced.
Kim F. replied:
Heavenly Pets - 358-7387 - in back of building at RAytown-Gregory Animal Hospital. Tammy and Sky have groomed my dogs for 20+ years and they use pet-friendly all natural products. I think their prices are comparable with others.
Looking for someone who does dog grooming for less than Go Pet Go
Melissa C. replied:
I'm not sure how much go pet go charges but we took our dogs recently to Paws Grooming in Pleasant Valley and they did great with them. We had got tired of the overpricing of petsmart. If I recall it was 60 for both dogs (beagle mix and havernese mix) to be shaved, nails, ears and bathed.. We will be returning to them! She's there 7-12 though so call early!
Laura D. replied:
Petcetera Laura is the best and so far the cheapest I've found for my boxer mix petsmart tried to charge me extra because they said he was a pit bull... Um no
Are there any decently priced (under $35 for basic bath) dog grooming places in the area? I tried calling the one off 79th and Wornall and they charge $50!
Thanks!

A Dogs Fun Playce on Wornall does baths for $15 but they don't brush them out. Daycare is also $15 per day. I'd recommend Brookside Barkery
