Airport Taxi service from Lawrence to MCI Does anyone know of a functioning airport Taxi business that would take me one-way from Lawrence to MCI cheaper than Uber?(Uber...

I've gotten a car service before, and it was about $75, so $85 for Uber doesn't sound too far off the going rate. As far as I'm aware, there's no Super Shuttle style service to Lawrence.

Just in case you're interested it's possible to get to the airport for under $20 if you have an afternoon flight and don't care about jumping through some hoops. 1. Take the Amtrak from lawrence to union station, leaves at like 5:30 AM and gets to KC at 7 (usually $13.00) 2. Take the streetcar to a bus station (free) 3. Take a bus to MCI ~about an hour to an hour and a half ($1.50) Super inconvenient. Requires a lot of wasted time and planning. No idea how anything is impacted by COVID. But by far the cheapest way if you need to save money.

Try renting a car one way to MCI. Budget used to let people do that, not sure if they still do.

What day are you traveling? If I am free I can give you a ride for free. Just pay my gas and toll and that's it!

Sometimes you can get a one-way car rental from Avis for much less than that. I've paid as little as $21 for a twelve-hour rental to get to or from the airport. The Lawrence Avis office is part of the KCI airport office, so in their pricing system, it's not considered a one-way rental. But the price depends on the demand and time of year, so YMMV. Worth checking, though.
When we had a return flight from Europe arriving late at night last year, we didn't want to ask friends to come pick us up at that hour. We picked up a car at the airport Avis agency for a 12-hour rental, drove it home to Lawrence, went to bed, then returned it to the Avis agency on E. 23rd St. in the morning. Worked great.
Has anyone used a car service to and from the airport in KC? I need to make a recommendation to my owners for a service- thnaks-
Matt J. replied:
Urban Concierge. Barry Richardson, 816.853.9932. We have used him for our trips to KCI, and he was one of my regulars at Westport BB. Great guy, excellent service!
Does anyone have recommendations for a car service that does safety inspections? I need a recommendation of a pretty lenient one since I have a crack in my windshield.
Christopher C. replied:
Hyde Park Auto.
Elizabeth B. replied:
Frank & Bob's Auto Service in Westport has been lenient in the past, especially if you're nice and promise to get whatever it is fixed "soon." That's where I've gone the past two inspections.

Henry's Garage on blue parkway. I literally had package-taped my lights back into my bumper. He passed me and said "you know that needs fixing, right?" :) https://g.co/kgs/4 gUKZ8

Not sure what your budget is but Mama Shelter is a Euro style hotel chain and they just opened one in Hollywood. Reasonable rates since they are new. Name your own price on Priceline is usually great for LA if you narrow your area a lot. AirBnB is good too.
Does anyone have any recommendations on an affordable transportation company that can provide a shuttle service for our weddding guests to and from the venue/hotel?

Heading to Chicago in a couple of weeks ands am looking for some recommendations for restaurants within a taxi ride of the loop.
Amy G. replied:
I LOVE Chicago and always plan my trips around eating. I'm here now! I second RPM Italian. It's in the River North area. But make reservations as early as you can. I tried to get into the Purple Pig on Friday, but it was so crazy I'll I could do was have a drink. Eddie Vs, although a chain, has amazing seafood. Viaggio is down home Italian in Lincoln Park. You should also try Pizzeria Due or Lou Malnattis for Chicago style pizza. Flacos Tacos was great! Sort of a whole in the wall but really great street tacos that were huge!!! I'm big into craft cocktails, so Sable is good for small plates and drinks. I could go on and on! I try to come once or twice a year and try something different each time. Also, I've noticed that taking Uber is cheaper than cabs.
Amy G. replied:
Oh! And when I travel in addition to seeking out the craft cocktails, I also look for donuts. Glazed & infused is good as is Waffles cafe.
