Dear ladies. Does someone know a good family doctor (general doctor) to recommend for us? Thanks

Dr Spencer is wonderful. My entire family goes to Kelliwood. I love that when one of my kids is sick they really do everything to work them in. The PA's are also wonderful. I can't say enough about this practice. Good luck with you search:) http://www.kelliwoodfp.com/ourstaff/index.asp

Walk in Clinic /doctor recommendation for depression medication no OHIP? My girlfriend is here doing the 1 year common law thing with me, she's got depression and we...

No OHIP means you'll have to pay to see the doctor at the walk-in. IIRC the average visit is around $60-80 per visit. Then you'll have to pay for the medication out of pocket too. The price of that will depend on what the medication is & what it costs.

You could try a community health center. https://www.aohc.org/find-a-centre Not the same situation, but both my daughter and I were able to visit them free of charge while we were waiting the 3 months for our OHIP coverage to kick in on a work visa. They will see refugees so we qualified under a refugee status. Part of the rules of them is that you have to visit the closest one to you so make sure to call that one to see if she would qualify. *We did still have to pay for prescriptions out of pocket but at least got the doctor visit covered.

What happened to the patients with her retiring doc - were they rostered to anyone else? Is there any possibility the clinic or practice she is part of would be willing to send over a prescription to Ontario (faxed to a pharmacy) based on her file, which I assume would be well documented to say she's been on this medication for some time and this is her prescription? There would still be a cost involved, but you'd avoid the additional cost of having to pay for a walk in doc here. You'd probably need to speak to the pharmacy first as I'm not sure how they would be able to react to out of country requests like that (although I'm reading between the lines of your comment, it sounds like had her doc not retired you could have processed that prescription here?), but if you explain your circumstances they may be more agreeable to help (if they can). Otherwise you'd have to do as otherwise advised - see a walk in and pay for that and the medication.
I say this because I recently had quite a similar situation with my husband who travelled abroad briefly and (somehow, that's another story!) didn't bring his daily anxiety medication. The consequences of not having the meds is such that we found pharmacies both there and here very willing to do all they could to resolve this for us (and we ended up having a prescription faxed over as I suggested). When it's a certain type of medication they are usually accommodating and do all they can to help.
All the best to you both.

Expect a cost of around $80-$100 for the doctor's visit. To save on the prescription, it's important that she ask the doctor for a drug that's available as a generic.

I went to a walk in when I moved here in January because I didn't have enough HBC until OHIP kicked in. The price was $90 but my friends had said it would be closer to $70-80. Im also closer to downtown. That didn't include the actual medication, of course.

Marry her and add her to your insurance plan as your spouse then see a specialist.
We have strep throat. Anybody know of a good family doctor in Ankeny that take blue Cross blue shield?
Renna H. replied:
For the kiddos Dr Folden is really good at Mercy North. She is right across from the church. Dr. Shutte is also really good at the same clinic.

We have had the same Dr for 11 years and we love her. Dr. Marnie Loftus at the Iowa clinic next to the post office. (well, across the side street). She is family practice.
