Need help finding a dressmaker. Suggestions? Hey all,
I recently moved to DC. Last week, an old friend asked me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding and sent material...

Wtf that's a thing for someone's wedding? Mailing you fabric and making you find someone to sew you a dress? That's gotta be outrageously expensive. Why not just choose an actual dress? I know I sound really rude but I'm honestly just baffled by this and I've been in multiple weddings.

Hi there! I went to a woman in Silver Spring when my cousins were getting married and I had 3 different cloths to make dresses out of. (Africans:D) Anyway! I went to https://www.facebook.com/glad.fabrix/about?lst=1599570056%3A100007290097993%3A1506369375: Glad Fabrix in Silver spring. The lady there is amazing and is pretty good at her timeline. I had 4 dresses made by her and they were all pretty spot on.

check Annandale, VA. There should be a lot there My wife had her wedding dress altered at http://www.anytimealterations.com/ - in Rockville, she said it was a little pricey compared to other quotes, but the woman did a great job

Not in DC, but I used to go to [Designs by Nicole](https://www.designsbynicole-md.com) in Rockville for alterations and repair, and she also offers custom design. The quality is excellent. The down coat that she fixed is in better shape than when I bought it. I have not had a dress made there, but I would go if I needed one. The location is in an odd spot; her shop is actually in the back of a dance supply store.
