See a medical professional first about your medical issues. Secondly, what are your goals? Do you want to get stronger, look better, move better, box better, lift more, run faster, get your body fat down, lose weight, gain weight.... All those variables and more will have a factor in picking the right trainer for yourself. You can also just follow Strengtheory and Chris Duffin, Alan Thrall etc in YouTube and DIY

If you are having pain due to injured muscles/tendons/ligaments/bones etc. you should not be consulting a personal trainer; you should be consulting a physiotherapist.

If you're really looking at a personal trainer, I definitely wouldn't go for the cheapest option. Looking for someone who either has a background in kines or a CSCS certification is also a plus. Most trainers who work at a corporate gym like goodlife aren't going to give you as much as someone with a CSCS and a background in physiology, the Can-Fit pro certification is a weekend course and is outdated in a lot of things. Not to say there aren't any good trainers without this cert or background, there are definitely lots, just make sure to do your research. Ask for past clients, what type of people do they train, what do their success stories look like, what are their own personal experience in relation to your own goals. I would never hire an aesthetics oriented body builder who hasn't competed in powerlifting to write my powerlifting program for example. If you are pretty confident in most of your lifts and need fine tuning, online training is also a great way to save some money and get personalized help without needing to always have a trainer around. It also lets you have access to some in demand people that you could never afford to visit. I had some success with an online strength coach. We'd skype once a week, I'd send videos of form and technique, they'd correct and adjust my program accordingly. Do your research thoroughly, stay away from bro science trainers, and always ask for references or past client success stories. You're looking for someone who is committed to your goals and not their commission/paycheck.

15 lbs in 2 months is a lot, you can realistically only gain about 2 pounds a month of muscle
Could anyone recommend any good gyms or good personal trainers in the area?
