Lipa noi area is great- Nicki Beach is up there, but you can stay at Lipa Lovely hotel very reasonably.- lovely beach, and everything right there. Take a trip out to the marine park from there! Beautiful.

Chaweng Beach in my opinion is the most stunning. So this also means it's the most developed and has the most people. However, I still really enjoyed it as it had lots of restaurants and the beach is big enough to not feel too crowded. If you want to avoid crazy nightlife I wouldn't bother with Phang Ngan. I went when it wasn't a full moon and it was still heaving with people. A whole lot of drunks just pissing everywhere and the sea was full of lice, Was very disappointed. However, I have heard that the beaches on Phang Ngan away from the main beach are also stunning and quiet

Bang PO Beach is quiet residential and you can rent private house or simple bungalows; depends on budget. Beach is light brown sand and if you like snorkeling it is nice there. chan hom restaurant is one tasty thai restaurant nearby and you are not too far from Mae Nam Beach where lots of food are available. Whits sand beach seems to be more near Chaweng area but of course much more tourist and night life attractions.
