1) Hotel Ganges Grand, Godowlia. 5 minutes' walk'd get you to Dashashwamedh Ghat,, the main ghat at Varanasi. Compared to the hotels nearby this one is a tad more decent, even though it won't offer a view of the Ganges. If viewing the river is your topmost priority, then you may opt for Dashashwamedh Boarding House. It's just'bout a stone's throw from the main ghat. 2)The Govt Tourist Lodge at Darjeeling. They won't overcharge you in the 'peak season'.
