Ramada Bintang. Interconnecting rooms I have family of 5 13,10,7 years stayed here last two years. Resort style easy walk to shopping and easy walk to escape shopping when kids had enough. My kids loved it and guaranteed inter-connecting rooms.

I just returned from staying at Hard Rock with another family. Kids ranging from 15 down to 5 and they had an absolute blast. This was our first time to Bali and did not hear any noise outside the resort, it is absolutely amazing and worth every cent!! My kids are still talking about it, and how great the hard rock crew are. We did not find it daunting at all...very close to everything..

Bali Mandira in Legian. There are option of Family room that sleep up to 5 upon request or for more privacy you may take Deluxe Cottage, interconnecting room is guaranteed for family with children. Their new beach pool is amazing with water slide, perfect for family holiday

Really depends how much you want to spend and how fussy you are. Seminyak accom is generally more expensive but it's quieter, has nicer restaurants and great shopping. Legian still quieter than Kuta, has good shopping and restaurants and you're still close to both Seminyak and Kuta. Great family resorts in Nusa Dua but it's a 30 min taxi ride anywhere. Some lovely resorts and restaurants in Jimbaran Bay & Sanur but still a fair taxi ride for shopping etc. If money's no issue and you enjoy shopping I'd stay at the Padma. Stunning grounds, great pools, amazing breakfasts and they have family chalets. Or have you considered a villa? So many amazing ones around (but 14 year old may prefer a resort to meet other kids). Very personal choice but I wouldn't stay at Hard Rock. It's hit and miss with rooms and service now. Dynasty is still great for families but beach area is no longer nice. And Jayakarta and Melasti are horrid.

Been going to bali for years and if ur a first timer Hard Rock is def not for you...VERY expensive in Bali terms...not just room but to eat & drink there....area is not the best either your right in the middle of Bali hot spot....I suggest you rent a 2 bedroom apartment at Jayakarta (just google them) then you get all the facilities of the Jayakarta except your all guaranteed to be under one roof at approx $120- $150. per night . Its close to the shops, markets, beach and great restaurants...your just out of Kuta but within a good walk along the beach....Ive stayed there a couple times and its great...other than there Bali Dynasty is brilliant for kids club but thats like kids between 8 and under otherwise its a bit pricey there too....Villas are fine but very isolated and boring if your looking to meet ppl or ur kids are social kids... good luck

we just got back from Bali yesterday....stayed at Dynasty for 5 days (GREAT) with our 3 kids, then 5 days at Novotel Benoa (5 mins out of Nusa Dua). Novotel way nicer, more beautiful, and heaps of waterspouts - jet ski, banana boat, flying fish and all the rest so lots of stuff to do on the beach!!!

Hotel Santika Beach in Tuban is a great place and family friendly for first timers. So is Padma in Legian and lots to do there for kids as does Melia Bali in Nusa Dua. Club Med also if you want all inclusive specials
