Louisville (pronounced loo-is-ville, not loo-ey-ville), Erie, and Superior are our "sister towns". They all have great FB groups. I also follow East Boulder and Broomfield. Someone might want to recommend Next Door and for them... I can't do a link right now.
Liz M. replied:
Join ModMoms North; such a great resource and group. I highly recommend Cornerstone Pediatrics in nearby Louisville. Look into Forest Park Montessori School for preschool (25 kids total), and Heart and Hands Montessori for infant daycare. They are on the same big, pretty park, simplifying drop off and pick up for 2 kids. Check out their FB pages to get a feel for them.
Ashley E. replied:
We love The Learning Experience in Lafayette (0-5 daycare and preschool) and Dr. Jeff Richker for pediatrician
Joyce W. replied:
Dr. Jeff Richker at Lafayette Pediatric and Internal Medicine is thorough, knowledgeable, and flexible. One of my sons is medically complicated and Jeff has managed his care impeccably well.
Trish E. replied:
I highly recommend DonnaJohnson's in gone preschool. She is wonderful. (303)666-8252. She is located in Lafayette
Lindsey K. replied:
Welcome! Would love to connect with you when you get here. I have no experience with day care but we love Louisville Montessori, Douglass Elementary and Dr Stephen Fries at Boulder Community Hospital (Foothills Pediatrics).
We really like Dr. Serlen at Boulder Medical Center. I've heard great things about all the peds there. They're in Louisville so like 10-15 mins.
Steph W. replied:
Vrinda McGinnis is starting a preschool soon. I highly recommend her. She has her Master's degree in Education and she goes above and beyond for children. A few years back she cared for my 3 year old child who has a g tube. She is amazing!
Heather R. replied:
I have my 3 year old at Montessori Academy and it's great. They take toddlers also. It's small and with experienced teachers. We also see Dr Palazzari at Lafayette Pediatrics. He's very sweet and great with kids.
Donna C. replied:
check out FB group Lafayette Rocks! We moved here a few years ago with our kids were 2 and 5. Treehouse Learning on 96 th st. offers day care structure more similar to what you see in the east and Midwest. They take infants through kindergarten.
Sarah W. replied:
We really like Adventure Montessori. They do infant - 5 th grade

Melissa V. replied:
Our ped is Melissa Serlen (Vanderbilt Med School/Johns Hopkins residency) at Boulder Medical Center Avista. We've been with that practice since our son, now 14, was an infant. They've gone above and beyond on several occasions; fought insurance, including appeals, to get our preemie/special needs daughter the RSV vaccine, Dr Booth (replaced by Dr Serlen) personally sat in my daughter's hospital room during the middle of the day monitoring her O2 when she admitted her for pneumonia, she ordered food for me and paid for it bc I told her I had been living on protein bars since the day before when my daughter got sick. We had spent the previous evening in Children's only to be sent home with a script for amoxicillin - she handled that too. They called me and the NICU to monitor her progress when she was a patient there even though they had never met her. Now, even though my daughter is very healthy they are very conservative with her care and monitor her very closely, which I greatly appreciate.

Courtney A. replied:
I went with Emily Keen in downtown Louisville. She was amazing and my son really liked her too
Christine B. replied:
I second Children's Hospital. Our child was first diagnosed there and they were very good. IF you can get the school's to test, you still might want a second, outside opinion. And, I can't say enough about Emily Keen, PhD in Louisville. She re-evaluated our son and is so gentle and caring. We really liked her. If you go to BCH Pediatric Outpatient Rehab (Mapleton Center), ask if they will diagnose dyslexia. In the past, they haven't. Just double check.
Carol C. replied:
Dr David Himmel, Lafayette Eye Associates.
Amy D. replied:
We had a great experience with Dr. Kirk with ADHD/executive function evaluation.
Kim K. replied:
Dr Kirk came highly recommended but he didn't want to see my son because he goes to school with the doctor's child. We saw Dr. Green in the same office and she was great! We were looking more for ADHD but she did an entire screening and I talked to her about dysgraphia and her testing was able to say that he didn't have it.
Joel T. replied:
You might check into Dr. Barbara Wise of Linguistic Remedies. (Just do a google search). Not sure if she does diagnosis these days, but she's an expert in the field.
Rémy L. replied:
The Mapleton Center is really good if their waitlist isn't too long.
Melissa Y. replied:
My daughter had Dyslexia and had AMAZING results with Summit Reading Center in Boulder. Nic Claussen is the owner there and they do great work. They do testing there as well!
Lea W. replied:
I agree that the public schools should do the testing if you request it, but it may not be as thorough of an evaluation as you'd like (they don't really test for dyslexia specifically - just learning issues in general). There used to be an excellent dyslexia clinic at Denver University (yes, I know it's a long way away) that did free or low cost evaluations. I think the man in charge was Bruce Pennington. They were VERY well respected in dyslexia research (like best in the country respected) a few years ago. Maybe you can check the internet to see if they're still active. I'm sorry my info may be slightly out of date - I'm a retired Jeffco school psychologist. If I had the tests, I'd do the testing for you, but the tests are VERY expensive so I don't own them.
Katie R. replied:
Dr Holly Brown in Gunbarrell
Wendi K. replied:
Both of my kiddos are dyslexic. We had both tested at children's hospital. Our insurance covered it. When insurance doesn't cover they give a discounted self pay rate. Their wait list is long though. We waited 6 months for our youngest. Dr. Kirk was recommended by our pediatrician also. He's a neuropsychologist so can go deeper and do more extensive testing. We were only interested in the learning profile at the time so Children's worked for us. I agree with the above. You can always request an evaluation by the school but they will not give a dyslexia diagnosis even though 80% of kiddos who qualify under "specific learning disability" category are dyslexic. Check out bvkid.org which is a local parent group providing advocacy and support to parents and kids identified with dyslexia.

Does anyone LOVE their pediatrician? I am looking for a new doc for my 3 year old out in the Lafayette / Louisville area... thanks!
Liz M. replied:
Yes! I have twins who are almost 4. We have had several pediatricians due to out of state moves, and our doctor at Cornerstone Pediatrics has been our favorite by far. Dr. David Steitz. The practice only has physicians and we have no issue getting in quickly for same day sick appts. Our doctor often does the strep tests himself and walks the girls out to get stickers, etc. Great bedside manner. In the past we have never consistently seen the same provider, and most care was provided by NPs and PAs (who I love, but also like having my kids see the doctor) with an occasional short visit by the doctor.
ISO recommendation for pediatrician and female internal med doc or family practice doc in Erie or Lafayette. New to the area and need new docs. Thank you.
