Finally took a chance with Sean Thompson's mailer after years with my prior south county dentist who quoted $10 k for needing implants including a cracked front tooth ID'd on X-rays. Saw Dr. T studied surgery decided to get a second opinion and liked the idea of not being subbed out for surgery. Went to his office, X-ray cleaning new patient special, he did not detect a crack, suggested wait on other teeth. Shannon Rae cleaned my teeth, now I'm not stressing $10 k, life is good. I like him and the staff.
Becky J. replied:
Dr. Eckl is sooo amazing! My kids love him and the hygienists there too. Love that they are downtown and office looks like a house more than a scary dental office. They are amazing, honest, and good reasonable pricing compared to most dentists here. We had him pull kids teeth, new veneers for my hubby, fillings, cleanings, and he is amazing at all. Just a really laid back nice guy. Have referred friends and family and they all have had wonderful experiences too.

Does anyone know a good affordable dentist I can go to for a dental cleaning if I don't have insurance? Hello everyone!
I was wondering if anyone here knew where I can...
lozaning replied:
I've heard adds on the radio about going to a dental school and getting amazingly cheap rates. I'd look into that.
lolwutalan replied:
You could trying checking out Groupon or LivingSocial. They always have deals for cheap teeth whitening and consultations.

There is a dentist in Garden Grove - Brookhurst Dental. $29 for x-rays and exam for new patients. They will also do the cleaning if you do not have any serious damage - otherwise they would want you to have everything taken care of before they do a cleaning (not required to do with them, though). Here's their site: www.broohurstdental.com I've been going to them for a few years now. They treat me well. After the first visit the prices go up, but most dentists are willing to work with you if you don't have insurance. I've never had dental insurance myself.
mehall7 replied:
you can go to UCLA and have the students do the work (Dental school) with supervision of the dentist. I think that would be great and I also know lots of friends who go to Tijuana and say the dentist are by far the best there and so so reasonable. If you want I can get the name of the dentist there as I dont have it on me.

Most dental offices will give you a discount for paying cash. Not sure, which part of orange county you are looking at, but there are a ton of places in the Garden Grove and Westminster area. And most of them are run by asians, so they will definitely work with you if you pay cash.
zooch76 replied:
In all seriousness, I know people that go to Tijuana and highly recommend it. I know it sounds shady but they swear by it.
django_reinhardt replied:
United Dental Group has free teeth cleaning and x-rays for those who don't have insurance, no strings attached. I recommend the Fullerton office.

Dr. Tran is the best! He charged me 1/6 what other dentists had projected. And he will let you pay over time. He is expert and caring to the max http://www.yelp.com/biz/irvine-dental-irvine

If you just need a cleaning, look into local dental hygiene schools. Dental schools look for patients that need more than routine cleaning. A friend did my teeth when she was a student at Cypress College and did a fantastic job.
Mojitana replied:
Saw this today on my FB feed from the OC Regsiter's Deals Diva: >I've recently been asked to put the Concorde Dental Hygiene Program in my Sunday column. This school program has students doing the work. Has anyone ever used them? Here's the info they sent me: Concorde Dental Hygiene Program. Patients can have their teeth cleaned and x-rays for twenty dollars. They will get a set of x-rays to take to their own dentist. There are dentists on the clinic floor who will do a limited examination for them at the time of their cleaning. The twenty dollars will cover any preventive work that is done regardless of the number of appointments. This might include fluoride treatments or sealants for children. After a patient has had their teeth cleaned and checked, they can have bleaching done for $50.00 (bleach trays which they can keep and use again). It is a pleasant clinic and there are dentists and hygienists supervising the students at all times. A patient can call 714 703 1900 x 1056 to arrange an appointment. The hours of the clinic vary according to the term; beginning in January 2013 there will be some early morning and late afternoon appointments. >If you have any questions, please give me a call – my phone number is below. Thank you, Eileen >Address of the clinic is 12951 Euclid St. Garden Grove 92840 (corner of Euclid and Garden Grove Blvd. right off the 22)

Choice dental in Laguna Niguel. The debris there usually sets up a good price for anyone without insurance as far as I know.

I went to Simple Tooth in Foothill Ranch without any insurance. They gave me a good discount for paying cash and were always willing to work with me on payment. http://simpletooth.com/

I would contact orange coast college, they're always looking for patients for the dental hygiene program students. You can even get bleach trays for around $15.

Dentist recommendation for someone uninsured? Hey all, does someone have a good dentist recommendation for someone who is uninsured? I'm looking to get some cavities...
phantasm10 replied:
Dr Narkhede is one of the fairest and nicest dentists I've ever met. He charges a ridiculous cheap rate for teeth cleaning whereas other dentist would call it deep scaling and want over $500. http://www.dentistr.us/ Also when my elderly father was visiting me, I had his teeth checked and they were in terrible shape. Rather than charge $1000's to fix the problems, he was honest that since there's no pain and no infection, wait until he gets home to see his local dentist. He didn't even charge fort he visit.

Find a well reviewed non chain dentist. Go in. Tell them you are paying in cash and want a deal. Many private practice dentists will charge much, much less than they bill to insurance.
