Can anyone recommend any good trustworthy veterinarians? Any thoughts on VCA Mission Viejo Animal Hospital?
Michele L. replied:
I won't say specific opinions on VCA MV, but just a point that VCA is a corporation, kinda like an HMO. Standardized care, corporate directives, etc. so it just depends on your feelings about that. I personal like a dr. Owned practice, but there is nothing telling you who is a "good dr. Vs. a "bad" dr. There are many great vets in the area. I would check out: Alicia Pet Care Center, Animal and Bird Clinic of MV.

Dr. Pat Echolds at Rancho Niguel Animal Hospital in Laguna Niguel is a great vet and person. He provides 85% of the care of the animals that arrive injured, ill or neglected at the MV Shelter. He is easy to talk with and understand, our dogs love him and his staff, I get prompt responses to emails and calls and he has a genuine affection for the animals. He has been a saint when it comes to saving animals in need and dealing with all kinds of unusual issues. Dr. Echolds is the one and only at his small but growing practice. He won the "My Vet's the Best" national award for Pet's Best last year (from people personally voting). I highly recommend!

We've been very happy with doc-owned Family Member Vet Hospital on Los Alisos near Marguerite (right behind the toll road). Dr Glover is a VERY caring vet & the staff and techs are great. They accept VPI and United Pet Care insurance.

Dr. McCarthy at Mission Hills Pet Center at the coroner of Alicia and Charlinda. She is fabulous, doesn't have crazy high prices and she has updated the hospital as top of the line!

Depends on what your looking for? I know its a bit of a drive but community veterinary hospital in garden grove is amazing Dr Grant is hands down the best vet I've used. Its dr owned practice and their open 7 days a week. We used to use trinity pet hospital until they told me my dog needed a $3000 acl surgery, to which I went to dr Grant for a second opinion/$ quote which was 2100 but come to find out dr Grant said my dog didn't need surgery and just had an infected limp node (so glad I got the second opinion) I would never go to trinity again because of that experience. I was so pissed they jumped straight to a surgery that my dog didn't even need. Dr Grant is excellent and is very affordable Xrays run about 80-100 & their exam fee is $26, the staff is lovely & best of all dr Grant will not do any unnecessary stuff at all hes extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain everything in detail so you understand everything. Also follow up recheck exams are free
