Moving to Lawrence soon. Any good grocery stores you can recommend? What's the equivalent to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Ralph's, etc?

I like shopping at The Merc. It's kind of a middle ground between Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. There is also Natural Grocers, but I've never been there. Depending on how soon you're moving, there is also the farmer's market that goes on downtown every Saturday morning and Tuesday evening. http://themerc.coop/ http://www.naturalgrocers.com/ http://www.lawrencefarmersmarket.com/index.php

Hyvee is like a nicer version of Ralphs depending on where you're from.

The [Farmers Market](http://www.lawrencefarmersmarket.com/) downtown. The [community mercantile](http://themerc.coop/) at 9 th and Iowa. [Natural grocers](http://www.naturalgrocers.com/store-locations/lawrence-kansas) at 23 rd and Naismith. 4 Dillons, 2 Hy-vees, 2 Walmarts, 1 Target, and 1 Checkers

I really like Dillons on mass street. I'm gluten free so I do get some stuff at the merc but dillons is becoming better and better all the time. Aldi is okay, but it is super cheap and the quality isn't always there. They do carry some brand name things and I don't feel like I'm going to die from their food.
DOES ANYONE know any ethnic grocery stores in lawrence/KC/Topeka/around? I am working on a project and would love your help on finding them.
Erika E. replied:
uhhjhh (give me a second while I shudder at the word "ethnic.") There's also a mediterranean/middle eastern market & restaurant off bob billings/15 th & kasold(?) area, pakistani food at the convenience store at 23 rd & wak, and I think Aladdin Cafe also carries some things. And then, of course, Checkers has an assload of Goya, etc., as well as food for all the ethnically american folks. but that's all just lawrence. I KNOW KC/Topeka have more.
Vincent M. replied:
Aladdin Cafe has a pretty dope selection. But seriously. Check out the Indian store on Mass. They just opened up over the Summer and their main branch is in Topeka. Cosmo/Cosmos or something? They're the real deal!

Moonpies in Lawrence? I recently discovered moonpies, I got some at Cabela's but I cannot find them anywhere in Lawrence! Does anyone know where to get them? I've been...
jaymechie replied:
Pretty sure dillons on 23 rd. There's a rack by the checkout aisles
nx6 replied:
I usually see them at Checkers, and a couple times at HyVee, but they are always on a a special rack/cardboard display out on the floor. It's like they are not regularly stocked items with a specific shelf location, and they only come in once in a blue moon (pun intended).
swampwives replied:
I just saw some by the registers at Ace Hardware on 6 th Street earlier this week!
Badger_Silverado replied:
Tractor Supply Company used to have them up by the register but I haven’t been in a while.
GiantScaryDog replied:
Jayhawk Food Mart on 9 th has a variety!
redheadfae replied:
Check the Dollar store on 6 th.
WretchedMotorcade replied:
Moonpies are seasonal. You'll see them during the late spring, summer. Checkers usually has a bunch of them.
