This wedding dress shopping thing is hopeless! So, I'm about 5'7 220 pounds and super busty. I've been having a lot of anxiety about dressing shopping because I didn't...
ashley_the_otter replied:
I have heard too many horror stories to recommend jjs house. Have you looked for preowned ones at all? Stillwhite.comtradesy.compreownedweddingdresses.com are some that come to mind.
andromache97 replied:
Not a jjshouse review, but I'm just saying that they scare me. I wouldn't personally risk it, though I've seen a post or two on here where the brides weren't too upset with the end product. DB should carry toppers/boleros. http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_embroidered-lace-long-sleeve-dress-topper-ow2006http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_lace-topper-with-buttons-ow1005 I'd also recommend LaceMarry on etsy. Brides seem to love her, dresses are all under $400, and it'll be made to your measurements (though it will need some tailoring to make it perfect).
singeraddict replied:
As a person who regularly has to do alterations on dresses from JJhouse, I cannot really recommend them. Sometimes the quality is ok, sometimes the dresses are badly made. Their lace looks very cheap, satin and chiffon are ok. I have been able to do alterations on all of the dresses, so they aren't falling apart. Sometimes the dresses look like the pictures, sometimes they don't. It's always a gamble to order from them.
akeikas replied:
azazzie has some white dresses, have you also looked on etsy? you might also have luck going to department stores and checking into their formal wear areas
TheLittlestSushiRoll replied:
I've ordered a prom dress with custom measurements from JJ's and had no problems whatsoever - the dress (both fit, material and beading) was great! If you fell in love with one of their dresses and the price is right for you, I'd say go for it, based on my experience with them. - Just remember that you might have to pay a little in import tax, depending on your country, and that it might take a little while to make it/send it.
PS: A lot of the dresses has customer reviews at the bottom of the page, and some people include a picture of themselves in the dress they purchased - have a look at a few, and then you can decide for yourself how they look on real people and how similar they are to the store pictures?

I would take a hard pass on JJs House. The only low cost overseas vendor I would trust is LaceMarry.
sunsmoon replied:
RenzRags on Etsy has a couple of dresses that fit your bill [1](https://www.etsy.com/listing/259943370/2017-dusty-rose-bridesmaid-dress-a-line?ref=shop_home_active_39), [2](https://www.etsy.com/listing/489926902/2017-beige-tulle-bridesmaid-dress-v-neck?ref=shop_home_active_32). They can switch the colors on the dresses to a blush pink color and can do bigger sizes in a custom order.
Punky_Grifter replied:
I decided to get a dress made overseas. I looked at JJ's house and decided against it. I found reviews on theknot and wedding wire that really made me worry. Also, I would not trust the overseas places that use professional model pictures for their dresses, as I did not believe those were their actual dresses but pictures of dresses they could make.
LaceMarry had really good reviews. (I also bugged some etsy users about their experiences and they had good things to say) There are good pictures of what I believe are their actual dresses. Send them pictures of your dream dress and they can make something very close.
I am nearing the end of my dress-making experience with them and it has gone well. They have dealt with my back and forth many times and really the hardest part was dealing with the time zone difference. I hope the dress will be awesome, so I can't completely recommend them yet. But so far, everything has been great.
daytwi replied:
I'm the same height and weight as you (even the same budget limit!) and I struggled too. I know it's frustrating, but try not to lose hope.
Before I ended up finding a sample dress that saved me from having to keep looking, I was seriously considering ordering from here: https://www.cocomelody.com/wedding-dresses/
The reviews in this sub seem to be pretty positive and it seemed less risky than some of the other lower priced options. I also ordered a couple sample dresses from azazie.com and they were surprisingly high quality! I just didn't find a dress there that felt like what I was looking for. I do think you might have more luck finding a dress that you can add a topper to than the whole package in one dress- I know the small budget thing is super limiting.
