Looking into getting a dog and need some veterinary recommendations. I don't want to bring home a dog without having a doctor for him or her

Countryside Animal Hospital or Berry Hill

Dr Parsley and staff at Countryside Animal Hospital in Mt Juliet. I met them through a rescue organization years ago and am 110% thrilled with everything they've ever done for our 4 footed kids.
Mary C. replied:
Dr. McCormick off of the Stewart's Ferry exit, he is so sweet and good with my pups!

I suggest adopting an adult dog, not a puppy, so you know for sure they are the size you want. I haven't heard anything bad about any of the vets in this area. http://www.nashvillehumane.org/ is the local Nashville Humane society....
Marylee L. replied:
Courtney, vets are like pediatricians and hairstylists-we all tens to be very loyal to "ours". We are very blessed to have several, wonderful vets in our area. I would recommend going in and chatting with a few and discussing the things that you feel are important to you with them. With the above being said, my six go to Elm Hill and Dr. King. I admin a sister page of HipD called Hip Donelson Lost & Found Pets. We have two furbabies looking for their furever homes right now. Rufus is a puppy lab/??mix and Buddy is an under two lab/boxer/pure cuteness mix. We have had them fully vetted/neutered/microchipped. Dr King has also been exceptional in working with us on all of our efforts in the community and we certainly could not do what we do without his help. Great job on being a responsible furparent and researching prior to bring a baby home.

Countryside Animal Hospital is the best and very reasonable. I've had terrible, but very expensive, dealings with McCormick! Countryside feels like a family; McCormick a business!!!

Dr. Mac at McCormick Animal Clinic (where Stewarts Ferry meets Bell Road) is the best vet I've ever had. I've taken all my feline and canine babies to him since we moved into our current house 12 years ago.

Countryside Animal Hospital is the best!
Debbie K. replied:
Nashvillehumane.org has pictures so you can see most of the dogs available for adoption before you go in. Not sure if MACC has this service.
Paula H. replied:
I agree with Allison on adoption. Here in Donelson, we have Agape Animal Rescue and you can also find several breed specific rescues in Middle TN. I used McCormick Animal Clinic off of Stewarts Ferry behind Cracker Barrel for the whole 10 years I had my rescued sheltie. I lost him to cancer last year, but Dr. McCormick, Dr, Taylor and Dr. Carst went out of their way to work with us on care and finances as they knew he WAS my only child
Kim K. replied:
There's also petfinder.org, which is great because you can put in your search parameters and it will pull up pictures and bios of adoptable dogs from local rescues and animal control facilities.

I love Elm Hill Vet, Doug King is one of the best Vets around, IMHO. I've been going there for a LONG time.
I hate doctor that only look at the clinical side of what's going on and not the whole paction. I know this being doc down town know the medication, but they don't look...
