Search for a sitter on DogVacay.com. You can bring your dog to their home for a meet and greet. I found a great sitter that way, you can message me if you'd like her info. Usually it's less expensive and I like that my pup is in a home as opposed to a kennel. But if you don't prefer to go that route, I'd choose Benny's Dog Resort in Carrollton or Dog's Day Out. My pup used to stay overnight at those places and it was great.

We had to find a new place to board our dogs when we go on vacation. We toured a few. Was very impressed by Dogtopia, in Highland Village. It's new, run by owners, and they are hands on. It's all inside though. Petsmart was great, and gave us the tour. Canine Courtyard, we did not get the warm fuzzy feeling there. We were not offered a tour. We were given a canned speech. We didn't ask for the tour. Outside though, the dogs looked happy at playtime. I loved that about Canine Courtyard. We ended up choosing Hilltop Kennel in Argyle. Half the price of all. Doggie doors to outside covered patio runs, and they take the dogs out to play in the grassy run . They don't charge extra for the playtimes. We signed our doggies up, but we don't go on vacation for a couple of months. I just love Hilltop. It's like home!!!

We have a small breed dog and were very anxious about leaving her when we went on vacation. We got super lucky when we found American Pet Spa in Argyle. Very nice facility. The second time we needed boarding but it was last minute and they were filled up. I came across Andie at PRO Puppy Love. She is truly the best!! She boards small dogs in her home and loves on them like they are her own. So wonderful!! Don't know if you have a large or small dog. It is 972-965-2003. Either way, both get high ratings from me. We visited so many because my daughter was very reluctant to have her "baby" with anyone but her. Good luck!

Laura C. replied:
Rachel Hartman Allen -- at The Velvet Snout we customize each dogs stay. If there is a dog that is nervous then we give more one-on-one time to make sure the dog is less anxious. Our boarding facility is set up so that we can put the dog in a more quiet area if necessary. Often times clients find out that because they are social animals by nature that they do well at boarding facilities and/or daycare. If you were to decide to try daycare we would introduce very slowly and if there was any sign of anxiety we would remove your pup. I invite you to come by for a tour at any time.

Check out The Velvet Snout. I have sent many clients to them and my clients love them. The are reasonable but not sure what rates are. Don't just go for the cheapest. I can tell you horror stories. I am a pet sitter so I get to know facilities in the area. Diana Hall or Cracey Katz should be able to give you a rate quote

My dog loves Velvet Snout on 3040. 20 lbs/$30 a night.
Ashley H. replied:
I love http://dogvacay.com/ they will not be in a kennel environment. I have a lady we use they get one on one attention in a house environment it was a lot less stress, they have to pass a background check and the company has insurance, we left my two dogs for a week and it was a lot cheaper than and boarding facility.
Stacy F. replied:
We use The Dog Lofts in Flower Mound and have for awhile now. They are so great with our border collie, Jack, and I trust them 100%! He is $25 per night.
Recommendations for dog boarding in the area? Want someone good as my 1 - year old dog has bad separation anxiety (she's a rescue dog).

I'll second Canine Courtyard! Our golden has been boarded there several times. He is a very well behaved dog; but will dislocate your shoulder trying to pull you into the door. He is ALWAYS excited to see them. He plays like a nut with his buddies, and is exhausted (in a good way!) when he gets home. Sometimes I take him just for daycare so he can play with the staff and his friends. Highly recommended.
