I can't recommend a boot, but I can say good ole Venice Turpentine is a lifesaver for me. My two ottb's have extremely thin soles and were sore on anything but soft grass footing. They threw shoes constantly and I was at a loss. After just a few applications they were both significantly better. Now both are barefoot and I can trail ride, cross gravel roads, etc. with no problem!!

Sheer biotin, read labels and see what has the most. The pricier ones like farrier's magic are not always the best. value I am feeding a double dose of a cheap one from hoseloverz.com, I forget the name, good results so far! Per equal serving (via amount of nutrient, NOT manufacture's serving size which makes for example a 30 serving of a lighter dose MUCH cheaper) of biotin price is much better than the big names.
