Lisa, I had Home Depot do mine. They use licensed contractors. The top of the line shingles I used were defective and the roof leaked. HD replaced and upgraded the roof, fixed the damage and put us up at Holiday Inn Suites (2 suites for me and my brother and son). They paid for everything including food. They have insurance to cover anything - a roofing company has limited insurance and if the claim is too high, they go out of business and reopen with a new name. Is worth to pay a few dollars more for the protection - sometimes the quotes will be the same. At least with HD you have an ironclad contract and a 7 year warranty, longer for the shingles.
