Recommendations for a Used Appliance Store I've been told the best way to purchase used appliances is to try the Used/repaired appliance stores, as they will back up...

There is a place on Brydges just west of Highbury that is very good - just know going in that they will haggle a little bit so you can get an even better price than the tag. They include warranty.
One thing you may want to consider is Home Depot. Although they don't sell used, you can get a HD credit card (if your credit isn't miserable) and for purchases over $299 (which virtually every appliance is) they give you 6 months to pay with no interest. Often times, for appliances they stretch it out to a year. That way, you can get a new appliance with full warranty and make a small payment every month to pay it off - just be absolutely sure to pay it all off in the time frame otherwise you get hit with huge interest.

Back in August, my husband and I bought a washer and dryer off of kijiji from a guy that repairs appliances for a living. We bought the set for $150 including delivery. The guy came and hooked them up for us and even made sure they worked before he left our house and even before he took our money. And they work amazingly. They came with all hoses and everything they needed. They only thing we had to buy was the hose that goes from the dryer to outside. If you want, I could give you the guys email address. If you want it, just PM me.

My father who is in appliance sales and service is constantly telling people to check out Sears Outlet at Oxford and Wonderland as they have brand name items that are discounted because of being a return or minor scratches or "dings".

Mudges Appliances in St. Thomas, if you want to drive 20 min. They do refurbished appliances, as well as some scratch and dent. Good people and good service. I've bought my last two sets of appliances from them and had the ones before I bought new serviced by them. http://mudgesappliances.ca/

There's a place called Yardigans on the East side of Trafalgar at Highbury (the next major light south of Brydges).
