I think any optometrist connected to a place like LensCrafters would be Ok really if you're really desperate at the moment. That being said, I've been going to Victoria Park Optometry for years and found Dr Shuit wonderful. Click once on the screen when you get to the site to bring it into focus....get it? http://www.londoneyecare.ca/

I go to Dr. Alex Cendrowski by the LensCrafters in White Oaks mall, only been twice but he's been great each time.

My boyfriend recommended I go see Dr. Mao at St. Joseph's Hospital on Grosvenor. I actually made my first appointment for Monday, so I can't comment fully, but he was quick to get in to see.

Dr Kara Peterson at Optometry on Hyde Park is absolutely fantastic . Not only is she a great doctor and uses very up to date technology, she's very kind and accommodating . I've been going to her for a few years and am always so impressed by the service I receive . Plus, if you need new glasses, she can get you a great deal . She sold me the exact Prada frames I had seen at LensCrafters with the lenses for less than LensCrafters quoted me for the frames alone

What part of town do you live in? I can recommend based on your location. I am familiar with many of them in the city as I work in a local lab.

I am curious too, Do We need a reference from a gp before being a lot to see an optometrist? I had lasik done quite a few years back, would not hurt to check it from time to time...
PsychoRecycled replied:
Because basically every plan allows $50 for eye exams, so most places charge about that. Pick an optometrist near campus: they'll take care of you.
> Apparently they only cover licensed optometrist appointments.
Well, duh. They're not going to give you money to visit some dude in an alley who's going to look at your eyes.
> Also, how do I opt out of those unnecessary fees in the tuition installments?
[This](http://ubyssey.ca/blog/ubc-student-fees-go-opt949/) is a year out of date, but lists all the fees you can opt out of. Most of them, you can't, and for good reason: you still pay for public schools even if you don't have kids, never will, and didn't go to public schools (or even school in this country).
looks_legit replied:
I have recommendations for clinics for complete eye exams, but they are approximately double your target price. I'm not sure you'll be able to find someone in your target price range. For the student fees, see http://www.calendar.ubc.ca/vancouver/?tree=14,267,784,0 or http://ubyssey.ca/blog/ubc-student-fees-go-opt949/

While we're on the subject does anyone know an optometrist that will give you your prescription? Most places won't so you are forced to order eyewear from them because only they know your prescription but I prefer to order online.

I really liked the experience I had at Costco. Unexpected really, but it was well priced and very thorough.

I've been going to Dr. Traczuk on Central by Talbot since I was a kid; he seems to do a really good job. He'll give you your Rx as well so you don't have to purchase directly from him (but you can if you like, he has a good range of frames etc).

There is a new one at Western campus, anyone can go, its in the University Community Center.

Highly recommend Doctor Murray McCleod with Sunningdale Optometry (two locations - 316 Wharncilffe Street and 655 Fanshawe Park Road West). I had some fairly serious issues with my right eye, and have had incredible care from him. I've had a far better experience with him than the optometrist's I have used in the past. http://www.sunningdaleoptometry.com/

https://www.londonoptometrists.com/ I really recommend this location. Dr. Forristal was my guy, incredibly caring and very informative. He helped me diagnose my Kerataconus condition when 2 other optometrists said my blurry vision was due to a bad prescription. He even stayed open late so he could squeeze me in and I never purchased glasses from them either.

I go to Dr. Cendrowski in White Oaks Mall, next to the Lens Crafters. He's really great. I don't know if they have direct billing I pay myself then get reimbursed by insurance.

Got decent glasses from Vogue Optical (formerly iVision), they have the best second pair free policy in town. That being said, I got my eye exam done at Gregory Optical on Wellington. They were able to get me in pretty quick and they direct bill too so that's a bonus if you have the coverage.

There's an optometrist at UWO that anyone can go see. I've been a couple of times. I've had good experiences each time.

The Docs and staff at central are great. Only issue I ever had was getting a pair of glasses I ordered. The company doing the work lost the frames and that was the last one Central had in stocks. In the end they got the company to pay for the lenses work and Central paid for the frames so no cost to me other than time.
Looking for an optometrist in the area... walking distance would be lovely.
