Kyle Harrison rocks. He is in Dover NH at hidden history. He used to be at keepsake tattoo in Salisbury near 286 but now he is in Dover. He is super talented when it comes to freehand sketching out exactly what you want before he puts it on you and doesn't mind if you are nit picky. He is really great with colors and shading too. My sister has quite a few pieces from him, my friends do, and I have one from him too. My tattoo is actually in his portfolio on the website. ( Not their Facebook page although his portfolio does continue on there too) It's the second to Last one. The Rose with the stem heart . I got it a few years ago, didn't need a touch up, and it is still as vibrant as when I first got it. http://www.hiddenhistorytattoos.com/kyle-harrison/

I've had most of my work done here: http://www.precisionbodyarts.com/ But, I'm looking at a half-sleeve by Dave Shoemaker in Londonderry: http://hioctanetattoo.com/

+1 for Dave Shoemaker or Tyler Malek. Jesse Rix does insane realism in Keene but his books are booked super far out.

Evan Dipalma at About Time Tattoo in nashua does great work, I definitely recommend taking a look at his instagram. Specializes in more realistic looking tattoos.

I have a large (and very feminine) back piece done by Sean Ambrose at Arrows and Embers in Concord. I'm not even sure if he's taking new clients and if he his, the wait list is going to be pretty long, however, I love my piece and I loved my experience with Sean. He was incredibly professional, patient (I have a chronic pain problem I had to work around), and a joy to talk to.

http://cesargiovannyperez.com/ It depends on where you are, this guy's in Keene, but if you're looking for detailed he's your man, and considering it's going to be on your body for your entire life he's probably worth the trip.
SpaceL10n replied:
Sean Ambrose at Arrows and Embers in Concord. He won best half-sleeve (or back piece?) at a recent tattoo expo. He's fantastic and a true artist. Not sure what his wait time is like now, but for me it was 1 1/2 years.

My girlfriend got full sleeves, each has a python head on her wrists and it crosses over her back and down too her legs. We just moved up here to Manchester and we sold our car to get them. She's going to try and get a job stripping after she has her baby, lol "our" baby. We got them done down in Florida though so I wont list where since who would care lol. If you see her in town tell her you'd be her "pray" she would laugh.

Dan Kelley at Venom Ink in North Berwick, Maine. He does incredible work is one of the coolest artists I've had the pleasure of talking to. He didn't do my ink but he did my girlfriend's. He is the definition of professional and reasonably priced. Be warned though, he is highly sought after and travels a lot. You can look him up on Facebook and he is more than happy to answer questions there. I have zero affiliation with him or the shop personally, but he is my go to recommendation if you're okay with spending a little more for quality ink. Good luck! Edit: I know you said S. NH, unfortunately the quality work that was down here 10 years ago left for the most part. There are some great tattoo artists around us, I've just had bad experiences with one's in Salem and Manchester.

I'm currently in the process of having my half sleeve done by Rebeka Sobodacha at Scorpion Tattooing in Derry. She's awesome and I've been really happy with her work so far. She's usually booked a couple months in advance, but that will give you time to save.
