Any recommendations of someone to work on my Air Conditioning. I have been using Frosty's but their service has gone down hill and I am looking for someone else. ...

I use Dwyer for plumbing, and United Air/Temp for HVAC. Never any problems and their rates are reasonable.

Honest HVAC Company? Can someone recommend an HVAC company/person that won't try and rip you off?
I bought a house, and I'd like to get the system checked out before...

You need to be an educated consumer. Even if a company is honest the individual that comes to your home has targets to meet and that person may not be honest.
They’ll all try to sell maintenance plans as it smooths out their income stream.
If your system is over 15 years old it may need to be replaced even if still functioning. “Most in the last 5 years” depends on what “most” is and if it was done well and with quality parts.
You might be better off with a Home Warranty - and they aren’t great - which will cover systems that might fail while you save money for the inevitable repairs/replacements that will come. Often the home warranties don’t cover everything and the repair people aren’t always the best. And they’ll likely try to upsell you to things that aren’t covered - but you an always say no.
This would be more of an insurance approach where the warranty may cost less than the maintenance plan (which generally only covers the inspection and then you get a ‘discount’ on repairs). And you can save the money for a bigger purchase later.

OP, recommending F.H. Furr; we used them via Costco membership service to get a new Lennox unit, top notch service indeed. Not trying to give a biased ad service for Costco, but at least you know you’re getting a fair Costco price and cashback/executive and citi card rebate if you process your order through the Costco membership service for HVAC. Hope that helps!

When we bought our house, we had an old HVAC unit installed by FH Furr. It died, which was expected, so we had FH Furr out for a quote to replace it. They quoted 17 k. 17 k. Let that sink in. Fuck that. Brennan's came out and checked it. It wasn't dead -- it was just a circuit problem. They fixed it for $160. A couple years later it finally died for real and they replaced it for ~$6 k. Avoid any company that spends a ton on marketing. And avoid avoid avoid FH Furr.

http://www.rjwrenheatingandcooling.com/ I have a service contract with them and Roy is great great. My heating system was making a creepy noise one time and they swung by between jobs to check it out at no charge.

I use Richards Heating and Air Conditioning. We have them come out twice a year and the tech made some recommendations for our heater but showed me how to do it and what parts I'd need so I could save a few bucks and do it myself. Seemed like good honest guys, but haven't need any real repairs yet.

air quality hvac, based in ashburn. bought a new system from them a few years back after they kept my 30 year old heat pump going for a while. they stand behind their work and products, 10/10 would buy from them again.
