Sorry that I didn't see this post yesterday. Theobromine is the toxic component and it isn't in high levels in some chocolate- bakers and dark chocolate is worse. Just an FYI- if you cannot get in touch with a vet, there is an Animal Poison Control Center you can call. Also, they have a free app you can download to your phone: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control Hope your doggie is okay today!
Cyndi W. replied:
That Animal Poison Control Center, by the way, answers the phone 24 hours a day 365 days a year. I have the number (888-426-4435) programmed in my phone.

sorry I am just now seeing this! Toxicity depends on type of chocolate and weight. This link is very helpful!http://www.vspn.org/library/misc/vspn_m01325.htm

You can call the ER vet in Santa Fe and explain the situation. They will tell you if you need to come in.

Paul Jaramillo Sr. Has started to gather things for just this type of thing! He is actually one of the only people I know who is outspoken about helping families in need all throughout the year. There is a fund already set up and he has people in need. I just saw a random post on it and saved it so I can go back and look but I wanted to tag him here so he could tell you more about it himself if he gets to it 1 st! I might be wrong but I am sure I saw him mentioned something about thinks given recently? He can let you know more.

Thank you to all you caring and generous people. If you know of anyone in need please refer them to LA Cares. They can call 661- 8015 and leave a voice message. We distribute food boxes once a month in addition to "shopping" for other food items. We can provide emergency food boxes in addition.
