I went to Dr. Shin for the first time Tuesday and really liked her. It was my first real eye exam but used to work for a larger optometrist office in LA several years ago. I prefer smaller businesses and was hoping I'd get in and out faster without waits and the hustle bustle. I got in, had my pre-exam, met with her, got an rx, & picked out glasses and out the door really fast.

It might have been me you overheard because I just had this conversation over the weekend:-) ... Eye Associates of NM (by Metzger's) does not take VSP.

We left Atomic Eye Care because they text, call, and email incessantly, make appointments for you without your asking, regardless of whether you need or want it, and have the highest prices I have ever seen for eye care. We've told them in writing multiple times to stop contacting us and they still do, with robo-calls, even! Dr. Lisa Shin, just downstairs from them, is way better in all respects, though I don't know if they take the lab insurance.

Let me clarify: Eye Associates takes VSP for medical eye services, ie your check ups, they do not take Lab insurance for *eyewear*

Yes, Dr Johnson does. They have a pediatric optometrist in Santa Fe, but that is for more specialized visits. For regular exams and prescriptions, he will see children.

Both my husband and I use BCBS at Eye Associates. Since we are both diabetic, they pay for the exam. I use VSP to help pay for glasses. You have to file your own forms, but they supply them.
