You can't PURCHASE a commercial set on DVD, they don't have the rights to reproduce all the videos. There are *ahem* ways to find them, I would check the Buccaneer's Cove. you could always burn your own DVDs....

My old man bought some cheepo slide scanner and planned to do his collection, but quickly discovered how tedious that would be. I sent him to ScanCafe after reading a lot of solid reviews for roughly 1000 images that were a mix of 35 mm slides + negatives. He was leery of sending them all off at first, but figured the images had been sitting in carousels for years, so might as well give it a go. It was hard to beat for the value kit price of $0.21 per scan. The online portal where you can reject a bunch of images means you don't have to pay for a percentage of photos that came out poorly. Would certainly use the service again without hesitation.

I've actually used ScanMyPhotos a few times. They're very good overall - fast, reliable, and reasonably priced. The times I've used them I went with their pre-paid photo scnning box that's around $150 and holds around 1500-1800 pics. Almost positive they do B&W and negatives, but have never personally sent any. I have had nothing but good experiences with their customer service. If I were you, I'd call them to double-check on the negatives/B&Ws. Good luck with your search!

You should look at the Epson Fastfoto ff-640. I know you said you didn't want to do it yourself, but I'mg guessing you meant with the "regular" way. These a bulk loading. I would really love to rent of one these, which would be perfect for my needs(but haven't found that option). 6000 is a lot of photos. Only having to load them in larger groups might be preferable to how much it would cost to scan them all.
