My hubby @samkane1968 is looking for a 30 piece marching band Wembley area for a show in Dec. Anyone know of one that would be interested?

Hello! I'm looking for some advice on trumpets. Since joining uni, I've joined the uni big band on the trumpet but have been playing on my cornet (a sin I know...)! And...

The Yamaha YTR-4335 is a pretty solid intermediate model which lots of students seem to use, and a good trumpet for cornet/sop players doubling. I used to think that using my sop/trumpet mouthpiece on my trumpet would be a great idea, but despite the similarities you need to treat them like totally different instruments. You just won't get the same trumpet sound using a cornet mouthpiece. Try a Bach 3C trumpet mouthpiece as a starter moving from cornet, or perhaps a 5C for something a little more sop like, but ultimately whatever suits you best. It's not so much the depth of the mouthpiece cup that matters, but the shape (which is more U shape on a cornet and more C shape on a trumpet, generally speaking). Playing both sop in a brass band and trumpet in a big band that's the best advice I can give from experience.
