Looks like I need to see a hand surgeon/specialist for CMC (thumb joint) injury. I saw a hand doc for another issue last year and am not sure I want to return to him...

Don't go to Dr Wertz at Avista! Nice guy, although, not to happy with my finger! I learned through my ordeal that bedside manor means nothing, what matters is that the doctor knows what they are doing! Look beyond how he presents himself and focus on what he is really saying. Once I did this with my second Dr, Dr Ried, who I didn't care much about his bedside manner, and took in what he was actually saying, our connection was actually better. Dr Ried did my 3 rd surgery and pretty much saved my finger. When you think about your old Dr., use your PSI way of thinking about what he is actually saying, he just might be the right Dr,. if he seems to know what he is doing. It's all about your finger, not his bedside manner! Good luck!! Coffee soon?

I just saw this doc for the first time. He was very nice and helpful. http://www.cornerstoneorthopedics.com/providers/david-bierbrauer-md/
Tony G. replied:
The reason I went to David Bierbrauer, MD at Cornerstone Orthopedics is that he is the only one listed with Hands as a specialty. FYI

Dr Ma isn't the best.

My husband also went to Dr. Wertz and was very disappointed. Had a second surgery with Dr. O'Cell--loved him but he specializes in feet. My Husband's co-worker's husband had a trigger thumb operation by Dr. Wertz and because he forgot to splint it (or something like that), the healing and physical therapy took much longer. Just an FYI

Our office (PT) refers all hand problems to Dr. Reid.
