Brat defeated Eric Cantor in the Republican primary, mostly because the district Cantor represented was fed up with Cantor's inattention, and his support for immigration reform. Brat then won the general simply because this district leans heavily Repu blican. For Democrats who prematurely rejoiced over Cantor's defeat, this is a classic example of "Be careful what you wish for." Brat is a firm believer that Calvinist Protestantism and capitalism walk hand in hand, and that it is morally imperative for Christians to support free-market economies.
