Good place to get eye checked for an infection of some sort. Immediate care just wants to call it pink eye...medicine didnt work. Vision works wants to $60 every 3 days...
Janie D. replied:
Have you tried the ER or Dr. Bizers?
Sherry R. replied:
My son had "reoccurring" pink eye that kept him from attending daycare a lot. Finally Took him to an Opthamologist and it wasn't even pink eye! This dr used special eye drops for exam. She said with pink eye you'd see the bacteria moving around using a special light after the drops were applied. No movement-no pink eye:) I see Dr. Julie Lee (Opthamologist) near Baptist East but it took two weeks for appt. ph#893-9825

Try an ophthalmologist instead of an optometrist. We use Bennett and Bloom on Bluegrass Ave.
Is there an optometrist in Bowling Green that specializes in pediatrics?
Courtney K. replied:
I've been taking my daughter to Dr. Moore at GGC since she was six weeks old, to watch for a hereditary condition. He's done great so far, but I don't know if you have something a little more in depth.
Haley R. replied:
Dr. Bhola is an ophthalmologist. Here is what the U of L website says about him: Dr. Rahul Bhola, who leads UofL Physicians–Pediatric Eye Specialists, also serves as the chief of ophthalmology at Kosair Children’s Hospital. He has been trained to tr eat the most common eye disorders in children as well as the most complicated cases, including conditions such as retinopathy of prematurity and childhood cataract and glaucoma.
Shelley L. replied:
Dr Bhola comes to bowling green once a month.
Alicia C. replied:
McPeak Vision Partners (used to be Downing-McPeak Vision Centers when I worked there) used to have visiting pediatric ophthalmologists from Vandy see patients in their office once per month. However, my guess is that you would have to be referred by an optometrist before you could schedule with one. You could always call to ask about that though. They'd probably just recommend you see one of their ophthalmologists or optometrists first. It seems like the optometrist in that BG office saw most of the young kids. Either way, there are both types of eye docs in that office.
Tracey A. replied:
Dr. Franklin@McPeak.
Erica M. replied:
Dr. John Mark Franklin is amazing! He diagnosed Jenna vedy quickly when 2 other doctors failed to figure out what it was!
Amanda S. replied:
Dr Franklin is great! My little one sees him and he did correction surgery for a drifting eye.
Joyce M. replied:
My grandson sees Dr. John Franklin for the same condition. He's a pediatric ophthalmologist located in Louisville but he comes to McPeak Vision in BG once a month. His number is (502) 897-9881.
Leslie D. replied:
My daughter sees Dr. Moore and we love him. She also sees Dr. Donahue at Vanderbilt. Both are great!
Carrie P. replied:
I think you might be looking for an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist. We've seen Dr. Franklin too and can say he was very nice and helpful.
I like Kristin Rabout at Vision First. (Editing) She is at the Shelbyville Office, and at another. All their doctors work at multiple locations. I think she may float to the one in Frankfort.
Bonnie M. replied:
We love Dr Bowersox and his office staff!!! Just an awesome place to get your eyes checked and they are so so nice!!!!!
June G. replied:

Dr. Keenan at Vision First, I have been seeing him since 1994 and love him:)
Megan W. replied:
I love Dr Rabaut! Doesn't hurt that I've worked with her before, but I do take my child to her:)
Optometrists..Best place to get an eye exam, glasses on Dixie??
Geneva D. replied:
I see Dr. Casey Johnson at KY Eye Care. It not on Dixie Hwy. I like him a lot. Make sure you see a MD which is a ophthalmologist not an optometrist. optometrist is not an M.D. doctor.
Margie M. replied:

Can anyone recommend a good optometrist in the area? Thanks : )
Kelley B. replied:
Rod Rollo at vision first on poplar level. Been my dr for over 30 yrs. He gets it right the first time and has all the latest contact lense options yrs before other places! Huge selection of frames for glasses as well Knows the best dr for laser surgery if you want to look into that option.
Wayne S. replied:
Jeffrey...I second Dr Rod Rollo...All 3 of us have been going there as long as I can remember...which is about 15-20 years back.
Joel P. replied:
Jeff I also have been seeing Dr. Rallo for years. Never had a bad experience.
I recently purchased frames at a thrift store. Will an optometrist put in lenses? Is there an on-line service for this? My optometrist said it would be around $100 for...
wpurple replied:
You just have to ask them. Unless the frames have some strange shape to them they can fit a lens to the frames. There are some online lens-makers who will use your frames. They might be less $ than other places. This is one I've used: http://www.lensfactory.com/
