[Steve Gatrost at Acme Ink](http://acmeinktattoos.com/index.php/artists/steve-gatrost/) tattoos a friend of mine and his work is amazing. Also Five Star Tattoo on Frankfort Avenue in Clifton, not sure which artist but go in and ask for the guy who did a sleeve of "Where The Wild Things Are" - yes, the children's book. The tattoo is on a guy I used to date and is one of the most amazing pieces I've ever seen, but I forget which artist he goes to.

I would give the title of best in Louisville to [Dennis Pase](https://www.instagram.com/dptatt_layer/) 10/10 times. EDIT: [This is probably my all time favorite tattoo I've seen of his](http://imgur.com/DKXMWhN)

I've recently left Louisville but while I was there I did my own research on instagram. I had followed pretty much every artist I could find locally trying to find the best ones. After I moved, I unfollowed almost all of them. There are a few I still follow on Instagram because I still think they are really good.@acmeinklouisville@jasonbarresi@sexpanthertattoos IMO, Tattoo Charlies was awful with the exception of Lucky, but I don't think he's on IG? Do you own research, everyone has their own opinion of good.

I'd recommend Acme - it's where I get my ink from (Slim Brown is my artist). They've been open for 17 years (second longest in Louisville I believe next to Tattoo Charlies).
