We installed a propane tankless water heater a few years ago to replace an electric water heater. The electricity bills dropped a few hundred bucks a month. At least as far as I recall my son Andy Markle telling me. We paid $4,000 total for the heater, the plumbing and a circulation pump installed in the bathroom farthest from the water heater. I think we paid too much. The water heater is set to turn on about the time the family gets up in the mornings so that it will circulate the water from the heater to the bathroom, so there is no wasted water waiting for it to get hot. Also note that we included a water filter with the water heater. You really need the water filter. After the first year, Andy took out the filter to change it, and found it to be completely covered in clay and who knows what else that was filtered from the water. That prompted us to install a whole house water filter and something else (I can't remember what its called) that eliminates calcium buildup. I used All Star Plumbing to install the whole house water filter. Their Madera number is 675-3366. Fresno number 445-9999.
