Yup..sounds like you need a new cartridge. They look like this https://www.plumbersstock.com/product/182761/ Very easy to change out. Heck. There's probably a youtube vid on it and most makers will send you one for free. Under the sink there should be a label on the supply lines with make and model number of faucet. That'll help in getting the cartridge.
