Does anyone know where I can find cardboard octagon tiles for a prototype I am putting together. Can't find them on Amazon and a Google search only reveals flooring...

The sample shows hexes, but they do octagons, too: http://www.printplaygames.com/product/die-cut-pieces-tiles-and-counters Just click the pull down menu

If you need samples, I recommend contacting them directly. Although they have a minimum, I'm willing to bet there's a way around it. That said, if you only need a few, making them yourself is a good way to go. And if you want to get fancy, you can do what I did and get one of these: http://pazzles.com/products/creative-cutters/vue/ I have yet to fully explore the possibilities, but I bet it will pay for itself for all of the shortest run demo pieces you'll make with it. It's a bit fiddly, but not overly so. I used it to make the stencils for this, worked pretty well.

Army Men? You can buy big bags of them on amazon or evay and elsewhere. I saw some sci-fi version somewhere. Cost almost nothing compared to real minis. Personally though I would just make a few sheets of cardboard counters. Or maybe make paper standees/minis. Cheap and works great for any game.

I used Megablocks dragons figures for exactly this, multiple factions, different units and weapons/accessories/stands. Not quite 40 k style but still super useful.

Check goodwill for games. Pick up old copies of risk or other board games for next to nothing. Buy some dowels and cut to length. Buy some meeples from amazon. Choices are endless.

How about small wooden cubes? They're cheap. You can finish them in whatever colours you want. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/b3 f6B2 nW

Along the same lines of the last post, can anyone recommend someone who can repair flooring? We've had a water leak in our kitchen which has damaged our floor and we...
Jamie G. replied:
This probably isn't very helpful but I will share anyway... Our beautiful looking kitchen floor was installed improperly. We got several estimates to fix it, which ended up being almost as expensive as replacing the floor. We then tried working with several different flooring folks around town (both companies and independent contractors) who all flaked and weren't reliable. We finally ended up at Coyle Carpet & Flooring on the beltline, met with a guy named Jerry, who helped us pick a new floor in our price range, followed through on measuring and getting us a timely (and reasonable) estimate. The new floor goes in tomorrow. I can't yet vouche for the work/floor itself yet but after having such a prolonged headache trying to find a reputable and reliable floor person, Coyle thus far has come through for us. Good luck.

Mark M. replied:
Yeah, I would leave that part to the pros, but you can cut the cost considerably by removing the old floor yourself. I have removed glued vinyl floors, with the right crowbars: http://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-42-in-Wrecking-Bar-DWHT55132/202985493?N=5 yc1 vZc24 oZ1 z0 v389Z1 z0 v39 m. Leverage with a large crowbar makes the job very easy. Don't try it with a 12" crowbar. Unless you want to spend hours on the floor and end up with a bad back

Seriously, call ServPro - 221-1818 - They will take care of it correctly and for a reasonable price. Water is difficult and must be handled correctly or else you may end up with additional trouble.
