I have a timid rescue Westie who is in need of a nice bath and hair cut. Any recommendations for dog groomers?

Ruth at Cotswold Canine Grooming is fab. She comes to you and has a van that she does the grooming in, all she needs is access to an electric supply

Morning. Does anyone know of a dog groomer in the area who is good with anxious dogs? I have a mini schnauzer pup who is nervous around new people, especially men....

Fully recommend The Grooming Room in Malmesbury, right by the market cross. Been taking my dog to Karina for three years, Coco is very anxious and doesn't like to be away from me, wouldn't go to anyone else. https://www.facebook.com/The-Grooming-Room-637292393079434/

Mark who trades as Dirty Dogs at Preston, Cirencester, is brilliant. Very good with the dogs (no chains or tethers) and does an excellent job. I have been going to him for twenty years and highly recommend him.
Ruth M. replied:
Hi Jo, I'm guessing you have probably found someone by now, but if not then I groom Bichons. I'm a mobile groomer and I run Cotswold Canine Grooming, so I come to you and groom in a large van that has been converted to a mobile salon. Previously I worked in London for one of the top salons, Peters Posh Pets in Kensington, before moving back to Suffolk to run my own salon. Since then I spent 3 years teaching grooming in Sydney to students studying the equivalent of our City & Guilds. If you have already found someone just check that they know exactly what you want with him/her. Many are happy to clip them if clients want them short, but are not willing/able to hand scissor, which is what you need to do to achieve the typical 'show trim' that they are famous for. Check on the groomers qualifications, anyone who holds their City & Guilds level 3 will of been trained to correctly hand scissor & should know how to shape a Bichon correctly, unfortunately there are quite a few around that have had poor or no training
Recommendations please for a dog groomer to 'strip' a dog rather than clipping. Will be the dog's first strip!! Thank you.

Groomingdales in Chippenham do my Dad's spaniel. We have always been pleased with Katrina in the Grooming Rooms in Malmesbury for our viszla, though she doesn't need stripoing obviously:)

Karina Rollings-Strong of The Grooming Room I would recommend without any doubt, gold star groomer and brilliant with animals
