I operate Scully's Plumbing here in Malverne. This is a typical problem of both hot and cold water supplies. Jeff, if it's a hot water issue your water heater likely needs to be flushed out. If it is additional a cold water issue, I recommend CUNO's free water sample test. They're a water filter company and they'll make specific recommendations for your home.
