I made a sugar/coconut oil scrub for my daughter to use in the shower and she also applies straight coconut oil or a mixture of coconut oil/apple cider vinegar/honey to it each day and it helps a lot. We sometimes rub yogurt on it too. Sounds strange, but it works. Do you mind if I ask why you don't want to use Dr. Matthias? My dermatologist's office will no longer accept my insurance, so I was planning to switch my whole family to her. You can PM me if you don't want to explain here. If you do want to see a dermatologist for it- I love the one I used to use (who doesn't take my insurance anymore), Dr. Ann Tuveson. Her practice is in the medical building next to Rex Hospital though- a bit of a hike.

Apply coconut oil right after showering, then follow with Gold Bond Rough & Bumpy Skin Cream.

My son uses a urea cream on his arms every other day and the cerave face wash daily. Also sees Dr. Mathias. Cream seems to help keep it under control but it does not completely go away. He is 7.
