Would anyone consider this to be decent food served by a restaurant?
Pre-cooked, overcooked, warmed, bragioli (beef olives), with a solid thick spread of something...

Jaymz Farrugia that picture at the top right hand corner is the stand-up menu that is placed on every table at this establishment. I have already stated this in a reply given to Tony Cassar earlier.

.... from an earlier post on this group, one can deduct that this was served at Cafe Cordina !

OK Guys and Gals, the guessing game is over if ever there was one. For those who follow all posts sent here, e.g Terence Buhagiar, Roderick Muscat, et al yes that was the serving of the bragoli or bragioli that was served to me at Cafe Cordina on Sunday, 22 nd December, 2012. Cinzia Fenech, nice to hear from you again, but I have to correct your assumption here. I simply asked a question if you and other members would consider the serving of this plate as a decent serving in a restaurant? Your answer should have been a simple yes or no, not discussing something that has nothing to do with the topic. Now that you really want to know, I gave you my answer earlier, but, this was not the main topic of the original post. I kindly suggest that you (and others) read carefully what is written in the original topic post before embarking on a discussion that is totally out of subject. John Zammit, also what in heaven's name has your post about the Americans and the British got to do with the question. Can you give me an answer to my question please? Yes or No? Fiorella Quai, what difference does it make if it was served in a restaurant, or at a cafe serving restaurant food? Totally immaterial. To everyone else, thank you for voting that this serving was plainly sub-standard.

Heston Blumenthal draws his inspiration from historical and traditional British cooking. he brings these past recipes to the present in an innovative, creative and individual way. His restaurant is not acclaimed as one of the best in the world for nothing. Britain has some of the most acclaimed chefs, and best restaurants in the world.

The location of Cafe' Cordina is its saving grace and the fact that it's been around since time in memorium. Sad state of toilets has not improved then. I visited some years ago and was disgusted. Toilets are as important as the general ambience and the food served, whether a restaurant, a bistro, a cafe' etc. As for the picture that Reno put up, I find that presentation totally unacceptable. That sauce (?) on the "bragioli" looks distasteful and the salad should have been served on a separate plate. As for the American issue, I can safely say that I live in America and no matter what kind of establishment I've eaten at, it has always been up to standard.

i thnk very few of you understand different philosophies of different restaurants and cafe's, i have seen heston blumethal being mentioned in a thread about bragioli at cafe cordina, i'd love to hear what he's got too say about such a ridiculous thread! And yes i believe there is a great difference on the style and SIZE of restaurant reno. yet you all seem to be commenting negatively but havent tried it...that is absurd, reno believed it was an unsatisfacory dish....that is his personal opinion (which may possibly be subjective). You describe it as pre-cooked, I jolly well hope so, Warmed.....i hope so too. and at a commercial cafe i am quite impressed with the salad, to include artichoke hearts(they look like preserved ones, some can be good) sweet corn, frisee lettuce, tomato, olive....does me good for a cafe have had worse in sicily and france . And reno how much did u pay for this, think you forgot to mention. This mockery of restaurants has to stop, it is unfair that people are allowed to judge just on the presntation of a photo graph taken by an amateur photographer (no offense reno) By the looks of this pic this cafe owner is still trying to offer a good commercial product, you would have to see the volumes of food they are producing also.... The Picture Is Bigger than what you see here. I am no Grand chef but I try to offer good things, best of people make mistakes so please do not just slam on peoples businesses like this, i think it is unethical to do so. May all restaurants and cafes have a great year ahead of them!! Good Luck
