Haley at Fus was really good, not sure if she is still there or not. Nic at Brut is a very versatile artist with a background in comics. Matt Terry at Fus is also great. Other than that you just have to check out shops and look at people portfolios.

I've been on the hunt for the same. A very inked friend of mine advised me to check out [Sink or Swim](http://www.sinkorswimtattoo.com/) on Monroe Rd. I think there are a couple watercolor artists on staff, but I'm told it's one of Elijah's specialties.

Hey I had some work done recently at Uptown Arts by Mike. It's the only tattoo place in Uptown, straight custom work, and appt only. Let me know if you want to see pictures. *edit* [Here's the piece](http://imgur.com/a/GdKeM)

My wife and I both go to Travis Lakeman at Fu's in Noda. Over the last two years he has done a sleeve for both of us. Every time we go out strangers stop us and ask who did the work. He's also one of the nicest people I know. If you PM me I can send a pic if his work.

Is there a Charlotte-area tattoo artist that uses vegan inks?
Audrey P. replied:
510 Expert Tattoo confirmed they use vegan inks, transfer paper, and cream. The guy I spoke with said much of the industry is moving towards that stuff anyway.

Haylo Healing Arts Lounge in NoDa. My friends cousin works there! 111 Central Ave. They have a Facebook page, too!

Sink or Swim Tattoos uses all vegan ink. If you want a free hand piece you won't have to worry about the lanolin paper transfer. http://www.sinkorswimtattoo.com
