I worked for a moving company for a year. Generally, all moving companies are the same. It doesn't really matter too much who you pick. Just remember to tip the movers, it really helps and if you need to call us back, we'll be more willing to do it.

Be *VERY* careful - especially with companies that quote you really cheap. My g/f and I got ripped right off by a [scam moving company](http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/crime/article/812027--police-shut-down-moving-company-arrest-owners). Notice the article is from May 2010 ... we got ripped off in July 2010. They are still out there. I recommend [two small men with big hearts](http://www.twosmallmen.com/).

I just recently called around to all the big ones I found online and they all were 100 dollars an hour 4 hour minimum, If you have a small / short move, elcheapo was like 135 for the first hour then 45 every half hour after that with no minimum. I'm going with them.

I've used "El Cheapo" three times now and I've always had a great experience. Despite the weird name and lousy website, they've been friendly, shown up on time, and charged exactly what they said they would each time. I'd definitely recommend them.

Good shop hand stay's busy. Always something to do. Be a self-motivator. Don Goodrich & Skyler Steier gave good advice. Don't whine, it's hard work just do it. Live for the dirt, grease, & grime, get dirty but don't work in a pigsty. Be honest, if you screw up let someone know and get it done right, don't rush, watch the little details. Good luck Mathew MacKinnon and don't get butt hurt with all the shop smack-down pick on the new guy B.S. It's all part of the fun.
