Our vet used to be in maple creek and we had an emergency and cypressview vet refused to help because it was Saturday afternoon. Valley clinic (this is going way back) vet helped and saved our dogs life

Animal medical south in dunmore is hands down the best it's not the clock it's the vets and theu have amazing ladies out there! Dr. Jan & Dr. Megan are incredible
Dunmore Vet hospital is the best. I have heard the prices are way less in Taber though.

We used to be at cypress but have since followed our amazing vet to Animal Medical South in Dunmore. Dr. Jan has been amazing through out girls last few years of life and was so caring and compassionate when we had to let her cross the rainbow bridge. We then had an emergency with our new girl and Dr. Megan spent so much time taking care of her, emergency surgery and all. I can't say enough good about them out there.

Crossroads vets are ours, honestly I couldn’t recommend a better vet, they have fantastic rates too. Emergency call out is around $200 but they will see you without any issues and get you anything you need at a moments notice, they will also communicate with you over the phone well too and try to save you as much money as they can, honestly I couldn’t recommend a vet more and we have had 3 in our 18 months here so far the first 2 only lasted 3 months each

Cherie W. replied:
We love Cypress!! When we got our boxer I called everywhere to check prices. It wasn't worth the extra travel out of town by the time I paid gas, not to mention sitting around all day waiting to pick her up! Cypress & Crossroads are the only place I'd go. We just chose Cypress because we had an emergency with a puppy a few years ago & needed a vet, fast!!! We live 2 blocks away & the care we received was outstanding, so we stayed.
Kendra C. replied:
Crossroads was the most affordable option by far when it came to neutering our large dog (70 lbs). We do love Cypress View though, Dr Storch and Dr Stalwick are both great vets there!
Crossroads we see Dr Gupta..but others that work there are great..Slightly cheaper than Cypress.
Nicole J. replied:
I take my pets to Cypress View. For us the price is only part of the equation. I needed a place that cared about both ends of the leash in the equation since I have CPTSD and agoraphobia and I am training one of my dogs to be my new Service Dog. I need to know that his health is just as important to them as it is to me and that they will be just as supportive of me and my disability when dealing with me. So Cypress View is the place that met everything we were looking for for all our pets. But each person and their requirements are different so here is the group file for the local vets. Click on it and then scroll down to the comments. Each comment is a link to one of the local vet practices. https://www.facebook.com/notes/165547187191866/Links%20to%20Local%20Vets/168830983530153/

I love Crossroads and the vet in Maple Creek. The onky problem with going to Maple Creek is they don't really have an emergency number (or they didn't 2-3 years ago) and during calving season it is almost impossible to get an appointment. But Dr wasillow is amazing. We also love the vets at crossroads. My old cat Mikka HATES vets. She would hiss and bite and scratch. We took her to Dr Gupta at Crossroads and she was rubbing all over him and purring. I couldn't believe it!

Most Vet clinics will carry this or can order it in. Sometimes though they may consider it a "prescription" diet so they may require records from your previous Vet before purchase.

I have a black lab cross .. she is a year and a half. She insists on eating poop. We have tried many things; powder from the vet, paprika, bitter apple spray.... does...
Nicole J. replied:
One option that has worked from many is training them to use a potty pen. This gives them a specific fenced area to potty in that they leave right after using it and only go in when they need to go. Leaving the yard completely free of poop. Here is a link to my article on how to train for it. http://phoenixrisingwhiteswissshepherds.com/potty-pen-training If could also be a diet thing. Something could be missing from her diet that she might think she is getting from the poop. What are you feeding her?
Maria G. replied:
I feed my dogs a tablespoon of pure pumpkin puree, twice a day, supposedly this stops them from eating poop. My dogs haven't done this in years. You can also check out this article. http://www.akc.org/content/health/articles/why-dogs-eat-poop/

Dr Bob Fisher passed away a few years ago. City vet, Dr Poddar is excellent. Bob was the best vet this city ever had. Dr Poddar runs a close second. He himself even calls to follow up when you have an ill pet and that was during Christmas holidays. He really truly cares.
Sarah D. replied:
Both Dr Cheryl Cant and Dr Leah Turner worked with Dr Fisher at Valley Pet and are now both at Animal Medical Centre in Dunmore. They are phenomenal and have been veterinarians in canada for 20-30+ yrs. There are also 2 other fantastic small animal vets there. It's a brand new clinic (opened ~ 1 yr ago) in Dunmore, the care is second to none, and the prices are competitive. I'd definitely recommend checking them out! www.amcsouth.ca

Cypress view hands down Dr. Slemp or any of the vets
Redcliff vet is cheap for shots / blood work. We were quoted $300 for a phenobarb test everywhere else. And $50 at redcliff.
Maria G. replied:
I highly recommend Animal Medical Centre South. I had been with Cypress View for many years but had many bad experiences after Dr. slemp left. Dr. Kendra has been very caring and spent a lot of her own personal time doing research to find out why my cat went blind. Cypress View wouldn't even check her blood pressure after I requested them to.

I have a friend moving to Medicine Hat who will be looking for veterinarian. She has dogs and a cat. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Rebecca R. replied:
I disagree about the prices although we have not had any medical emergencies thankfully. Did pay for my pup to be spayed. No more then any other place I called also I was allowed to be present during the surgery. Stood right next to the Vet, I wore scrubs and a mask, and he explained every move he made very clearly. Polite and professional. Could not ask for more:)
