I've gotten word that LBC is shipping balikbayan boxes to the Philippines for free. Please contact your local LBC (NJ/NY please confirm this) to confirm this. Many of us...
Minnie R. replied:
Don't know if the boxes will get there is a timely fashion. I think will just give monetary donation to big groups that are there already like Red Cross, UNICEF, GMA Kapuso Foundation, ABS-CBN, etc.
Esther M. replied:
Minnie Rasalani agree they won't, but I'm sure they will still need supplies by the time they arrive. I'm wary about cash donations as my friends in the PI in the past have told me that even groups like Red Cross don't utilize the funds the way they r supposed to. What some of my friends r doing are currently asking for donations that u can deposit so that they will buy supplies this week and start delivering to the people this week. It's sad, but I feel more comfortable giving it to them than the large organizations because I feel more assured that 100% of money will go to supplies. That may be a better route to go for if you know someone personally who are volunteering to help.
Joy T. replied:
Esther Marie, this is great news. I will message you. Thank you.
Esther M. replied:
Oh thank goodness. But it was LBC that sent the goods right? Even though we paid out of pocket? I can still use LBC to ship goods just pay for it right? Jane Hernando
Esther M. replied:
Lawrence Calderon yes agreed. I don't trust the big organizations because the government will interfere. I am getting addresses of people's direct relatives and friends that are delivering goods to the people that I will be sending boxes too. I'm going to collect goods when I'm in Nj as well.
Kate G. replied:
Esther Marie....I can help you collect donations when you get here!! In the meanwhile I will start now and by the time you get here, we should know how to send it
